Riktar
So i was at the local hookah shop today and well im running low on coals so i decided to ditch the red starlight ones i use and try the cube cocoshell coals.. one thing.. HOW IN THE [BEEP] DO YOU LIGHT THESE!? i've put them on a stove for ...9 10 mins. to the point where they started to ash and were red hot then put it on the hookah and ... withing 4 min it was black again.. then tried hitting these suckers with a torch.. to no avail. Any hints or tips, i mean i've seen people review the same brand and they got it to work but i can't seem to get this right for the life of me. Only thing i can think of is I don't have a wind cover previous threads http://www.hookahforum.com/topic/29772-keeping-coconut-coals-lit/page__p__358662
Brandon`
Lol I don't know what to tell you. It seems like your doing everything right. I don't know if you haven't expierienced with Natural Coals but they always turn black on the bottom, That's why you turn them over on the other side and wait and keep fliping them. Most of them always turn black and stay partially red/ashey.

Giant Ninja Robot
replied to your pm, sorry man I think you're out of luck. I gave up on them. Coconaras and John's CH coco coals are good as are AF coco coals.

[/quote] BINGO! that has happend to my coals before, and they will go out. ussually if they sucked in moisture the will smoke quite a bit when lighting. just my expierence. or maybe you just bought shitty coals, nuff said. Hookie The Hookah
I've had them. You have to leave them on the stove for a very long time. Try 15 minutes. I actually like them better than cocos less hot, less expensive although they take forever to light. You really got to leaev them on for a while otherwise they're going to go out... 400! Also, you may want to try drying them out in the oven or something if you think they may have picked up some moisture... Riktar
it's just ridiculous i tried giving them a whirl yesterday, just lighting them to try to light them, spent a good 20 minutes downstairs lol and now i'm having problems with the goddamn tangiers funnel lol. this is ridiculous lol. the coals keep vibrating when i take a pull (caused by the water bubling in the vase i guess) and that causes the coals to slowly slide towards the middle and eventually make their way to the middle which puts pressure on the foil and that puts pressure on the the foil which now starts to cave in and seal the funnel opening (some chain reaction huh?).. this is RIDICULOUS lol. I even tried with traditional coals i bought at a spice store where my folks buy their incense (boukhour) when they come to visit and although that on lights up quite nicely they're HUGE chunks and somewhat heavy causing the foil to cave in as well. I'm so frustrated right now lol all this to find a nice alternative to crappy coals.
