LZ22
Semester is just about done, and I'll be taking a break from hookah while at home for about a month until I get back to school. I have been turned off by the whole 'learning curve' needed to use tangiers, which has kept me away from it. I think its time to just give it a try. Maybe keep it for special hookah occasions or as a special treat if I ace an exam (I'm keeping Nak as my primary go-to). I also plan on buying a small phunnel (yes, I still don't have a phunnel either). So, I need expert suggestions on what first flavor of Tangiers I should purchase. Keep in mind I'm not a fan of chocolate/coffee flavored shishas. Also, what can I expect? Is the buzz really a 'knock you off your ass hit by a truck full of lead pipes' kind of buzz? If it is, then I want to tell my roommates that its a brand just for flavor, and not much buzz (it'll be fun to watch them). Also, I'm going to try my first Mizo flavor: Watermelon! I realize I'm not making this order for another month, but I'm just excited and want to have everything planned out....I'm sure you've felt the same way! NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD
its really not that hard to pack tangiers, you can do it with your eyes closed..the buzz only occurs with regular tangiers not lucid but i only use lucid because i cant get regular tangiers acclimated..but for flavors this is what id go with horchata melon blend passion fruit watermelon maraschino cherry static starlight watch this vid..learn it, love it..lol tangiers packing video
rj_skillz
LZ22, you'd be happy to hear that I had my first tangiers experience not too long ago and it went great. I suggest you look at a few videos of how other people pack tangiers or the man himself, Eric. Not alot of people get the best out of the tang the first time they try it but dont be taken off the rail..because you will soon get it and Im telling you, you'l loooove it As for the flavours, I suggest not getting Blue Gum Ball. Its a great flavour but maybe not for your first. You want something to really impress you so go for one of the following flavours NOB has stated. LZ22
Ok, I've seen that static starlight flavor before, but what does it even taste like? Also, I'm so confused about this acclimating process. I've searched the forum and can't really find the answers to my questions other than the simple "acclimate your tangiers." I don't really know what that means. From what I dug up, the region where you lives makes a difference? I live in the midwest of the US, will I be ok? How long does it take and how am I even suppose to know when its done (I hate the thought that half the bag is going to be wasted because I use it prematurely)? Can it be acclimated TOO long? Do you just let it sit out on your kitchen counter for a few days or do you keep it in a cupboard? Final question: Do you acclimate the entire 250g bag and then you can store it as usual, or do I have to acclimate EVERY individual bowl? (this last question might make me change my mind about even trying it...)
the tobacco goes into humidity shock..so you have to acclimate it meaning opening it up and putting it in a container and letting it air out...you will know when its ready cause it will fill your room with the flavor you have..also when it stops smelling weird like soy sauce..you may not need to acclimate it just depends what the humidity is like in your area, but with tangiers lucid no acclimating is needed..just plug and play
rj_skillz
I have a fuss with acclimation as I live in the UK and probably goes through many humudity shocks so I rely on the Lucid flavours! They are as great but dont give out such a fat buzz as the tang regular line does. Theres various ways of acclimating your flavour. From what I know, some members just leave it in a flat shallow tub without the lid..and leave it for 12 hours but depending where you live, it may take a few days! In response to acclimating every bowl, No..so dont worry! You have to try it! I would acclimate the whole 250g by putting it in the tub I have noted above and let it sit until you cannot smell a soy sauce scent. Coming to think of it, all of this information is on the leaflet when you get your tangiers..very helpful, make sure you read it! Also, from what I know, some other members tend to take the lid off the flavour half an hour in advance before they smoke! I would just stick to the lucid flavours at first because you want the best experience of it and then possibly you can try out the regular line flavours! Im still hooked on lucid
rhineholt
I noticed nobody answered what Static Starlight tastes like. I just got my first batch of that stuff the other week. After a few bowls being not that great with horchata and mint, i got Static to work. It was a really strong... floral flavor. My girlfriend said it tasted like skittles. The purple one in particular. A word of advice, don't give up if your first bowl sucks. Just play around with it. Chances are, you didn't pack it tight enough. That's what happened to me. Don't worry about wasting tobacco because normally there's a lot of tobacco still good in the bowl after 2hrs that you can reuse.
Bulldog_916
I think it tastes like grape, lemon and rose. Those are the three flavors I get from it.
rj_skillz
I wanted to order some Static but John had just ran out of stock I will definitely give it a try on my next order!
mix_tape
It took me a few trys to get Tangiers down, I watched tons of videos and it was more so trail and error in my opinion. Hookah John has a video of Eric packing a bowl which I found very helpful. My other issues were acclimation but once it smells right I'd go ahead and try and smoke it. Although I'm far from an expert. I still really enjoy lucid haha. Bother versions give me a pretty big buzz. Good luck
Hunkies!
yeah i just got my first package of tangiers passionfruit. and for some reason it would not acclimate no matter what i did. I just ended up smoking it cause i couldent bring myself to throw out a whole tub, got huge clouds a lil buzz with no flavor at all. I just ordered some summer solstice to give it another shot. but id go lucid, no acclimation needed, good favor, lasts long, just no buzz if that's important to you or not. mix_tape
Theres an acclimation thread somewhere around here, I know I was having a lot of problems with acclimation. I know firstly I wasn't doing it properly, I'd recommend a tupper wear container and I usually stir it every little while to get the jucies moving around. I believe another thing Eric said is acclimate where your going to smoke. I've had batches I've purchased that just would acclimate it could've been me or the tobacco who knows. Sometimes I close the container 2 hours before smoking and 30-ish minutes before I stir and let it breath. I'll see if I can track down the thread for you to read over. I found some offshoot blogs about acclimating...I have a very wide and narrow Tupperware container (maybe only a few inches high, but like 8 inches width and length) I am going to use. I'll have to report back in a month or so when I give it a go! I love being excited for an order I haven't even placed yet...
Snoopans
I'm a fan of tangiers lucid mint, orange soda (tastes more like orange pez), classic raspberry (milder taste), and melon blend. I have and yet to try brambleberry and tasty peach.
