I thought it was just a myth really. But it turns out my medium, side by side with my small and my mini phunnel, really does smoke better over all than the latter 2. This is strictly with Tangiers as a baseline tobacco, but over the life of the bowl, 1. I got a bigger buzz at the outset than I have in the past, 2. I was able to get larger clouds without burning the tobacco AT ALL, not even a hint of harshness, and 3. the flavor lasted a lot longer. Now, I know the reasoning would be that perhaps it's because MORE tobacco is in there. Probably true. But I thought for sure with the proper heat management a medium and a small would smoke practically the same. How wrong I was. You really have to be more attentive the smaller the bowl gets. Let's say a piece of your coal breaks off, you either have to stack it back on top of the broken piece or clear it completely from the bowl. The same cant be said for the medium.

So, what Eric said really was true, that the bigger the bowl gets, the better your smoking experience would likely be given the proper heat management. Is this to say an extra large phunnel would work out? Likely not well. But a medium for most smokers would do them very well for experience every once in a while, not just for parties, but an occassional marathon smoke.

Yup, this is precisely why Eric won't mass-produce minis. My friend actually converted an incense burner to a massive (we're talking 150-175g) bowl using a drill. I have yet to see/try it, but he claims it works and I'm hopefully going to be trying it out tonight.

Eric said this all along. I have been using my minis for other than Tangiers Smokes and. My small for my Tangiers, during the week and Medium on the weekend, since I have time to smoke the whole bowl.

I'm not complaining, I assure you, but ever since I moved into the new condo on the marina, I've had some issues with any tobacco smoking right. I remember when i lived more inland, I would get sooo much smoke from tangiers that it was just silly, but when I moved, the smoke left and harshness set in.

Then I bought a large phunnel bowl. Put about 120 grams of Kashmir peach in there, and relived tangiers greatness. I was then a believer.

I smoke a lot of Kashmir Peach, so it works for me. I smoke for an hour or two. Next time I wanna smoke, I take out the burned parts from the very top of the bowl, pack maybe another 30 grams in there, and go to town again.

No harshness, full of flavor, and most importantly for me, killer smoke.

If you guys smoke Tangiers, and stick to maybe one flavor for a little bit, I would strongly suggest a large.

I bought a large phunnel just to test this out and i can attest that the large smokes better than my smalls or mini. i cant say the experience is any different since i dont ash my coals, but performance increase is noticeable....not by leaps and bounds, but its there...

I notice that Tangiers smokes easier in a medium (compared to a small), but I wouldn't say it smokes better. In the medium, it's more likely to be smoking perfectly right off the bat though. That, and it lasts a few hours longer.

i guess this means i'll have to break the medium phunnel back out for the 5 weeks of break = constant marathon smoking with my buddies

Shit I would go marathon mode.

@Incubus

It wasnt that I didnt believe him because I did smoke off of a large when I was at the lounge and I loved the crap out of it. But getting a few bowls into the medium I'm starting to see why he likes bigger bowls. Granted, he has the tobacco to do it and do it unlimitedly practically. The medium is his mini, :D. I mean, the large was packed by one of the men behind the Tangiers curtain, how couldnt it be good? You know? But for a good weekend smoke, I like the medium. I wont STOP smoking my mini or my small. But I will be more likely to go to the medium if I want a great smoke that will go for several hours.
