Riktar
Okay so for the past 3 sessions or so i've been having some crappy luck, maybe it's how i'm packing it the funnel bowl, but prior to those three i was smoking starbuzz pinacolada and fruit passion (i think that's what it's called) w the tangiers funnel and those smoked beautifully! Granted i don't have the best equipment as of now just have a mya i bought in morocco over the summer, tangiers funnel and traditional Egyptian bowl (which i dont use since i got the funnel). I used starlight quick lights with the starbuzz and although i could feel a slight taste it wasn't that bad and the overall flavor of the tobacco remained untouched. But lately i've tried starbuzz white peach (smoked like plastic tbh), then nakhla banana (a little less like plastic) and nakhla strawberry (which was WAY too strong with two coals and no smoke at all wth 1 coal..). now i don't know if it's how i pack it, or even if i pack it right. I've tried to over-pack the bowl (it's a large tangiers btw) and that kicked my ass, then i tried going easy and that smoked funny, made me dizzy for no reason lol. I should be receiving my order from john tomorow (CH coals and mizo orange) and i'll give that a shot but just wanted to see if anyone had any input on how to pack/setup the hookah as i am not really the most seasoned hookah smoker. My theory was that the coals were either burning too hot and burning the tobacco or maybe i'm just not built for nakhla lol. I've tried nakhla at lounges and at some friends house and it smoked just fine with three kinds quick lights so.. idk what i'm doing wrong... help? Chreees
Use mattarios2's method for packing Nak in a phunnel: http://www.hookahforum.com/topic/33144-nakhla-og-tutorial/ You're gonna need more coals for a large phunnel, though...
Riktar
Starlights? cuz with 2 it starts to get SUPER rough. idk about CH coals but i was planning on using 2-3 depending on how big. I'll try and document it tomorow and snap pics but thanks alot for the tutotial on how to pack!! i see i def skimmed on the tobacco. that seems like ALOT tho lol. I see he put holes in the middle of the funnel as well.. is that good or bad? i saw videos saying no and others saying yes. nars2k
You problem is that you are using a large phunnel, large phunnels tend to be a waste of tobacco and do not smoke as a good as the medium or small. Ditch the large phunnel, order a small or medium and untill then just use the egyptian bowl.

As to the OP....maybe you should try another nakhla flavor...or maybe its not your thing. Make sure you pack it tight enough to give yourself a chance to enjoy it. It is definitely a different smoke than starbuzz...it is a little heavier.
Sonthert
I'm inclined to believe you should try breaking those coals in half before you light them, then adjust the lit coals to get it to smoke right. I find a "plastic" flavor associated with overpacking. Overpacking might be indicated if you have charcoal sticking to the foil an/or juice coming up through the holes/running down the sides of the bowl.
