FamiliarJoe
For my fellow Tangiers smokers who use Japanese coals / Golden Canaries, how do you manage your heat? I just bought another box of canaries for $17 bucks from my local shop (yikes). I can out of coco's and I still have plenty of tobacco..so I thought id give it a go for a ripping bowl . I started out with 4 coals and it seemed alright, I may have overpacked the bowl. Any suggestions with these coals would be 100% appreciated ! Brandon`
I'm not sure about the Canaries because i've never used them but I use Natural Japanase Coals and on a large punnel, I put 4 of them directly on the middle the way Eric does it in his video and it hits beastlyyyy. I hope that helps lol
redjako
Super pack it to below the rim (like a quarter, as Eric tends to suggest). I use 3 golden canaries on a medium phunnel at once. With Golden's, I need to light 3 more at lke 30 minutes in, so you will have too much heat just lying around for 5-10 minutes.
Sonthert
Four on a large, centered. Three on a small, mid-bowl. Three centered or four edged on a medium.

Stuie
Well it's one of those days... that this info kinda makes sense but I am so out of it I can't tell. Anyone wanna take pics for me! Not sure what you mean by Centered
mattarios2
i think centered means ... almost right over the hole. Because he says mid bowl, edged, and centered. Edged obviously means on the edge of the bowl. Mid bowl, must mean in between the hole and the edge of the bowl, so right in the middle where the tobacco sits. So what's left is centered, which I am guessing means almost right over the phunnel hole ...

I have always done one stick snapped in half to make two halves consisting of four pieces total. and I throw them on the edge of a medium bowl, and when those are out; I throw on two more halves opposite sides.
