Sonthert
Tom Eissenberg, a very patient and learned scholar has me thinking about if I am addicted to nicotine. I've gone without for days, and I never really feel the need to be smoking a hookah when I'm not, but I seem to be smoking one quite a bit. So, I'm going to go seven days without tobacco of any sort. If you come to the lounge, you'll have to start your own hookahs if I'm making them, sorry. So, Day One: Physical State: I banged my knee last night, but it is healing up quickly. Some pain, not too much. My shoulders are slightly tense, my back is a little sore, I have, otherwise, no health issues to report. Mental State: A little anxious, for things on my mind, overall: good. I'll keep you guys updated.

Teissenb
Do you have a significant other? I'd be very interested in hearing that person's objective reports of your behavior during your tobacco-free week.
Stuie
I have an addictive personality, so I routinely take brakes. It's been a while since I have gone 7 days. But I do try to skip a few days every month.
Jacob Shock
7 days! to me that would be incredibly difficult, i start to feel bad after 7 hours. but good luck to you eric, im curious to see how this goes for you.
mattarios2
good work Eric. Every 2-3 months I take a 3-4 day break b/c i've been told nicotine can take up to 72 hours for it to be fully out of your system. And then once a year i go on vacation with my gf and her fam for 7-10 days, so between all that I assure myself I am not "hooked"! good looks on doing the same for yourself and goodluck! I got one at work, and I constantly have people coming to my office for a cup of coffee. I need to start charging. Amazon usually has good deals on the k-cups. My favorite so far out of the 3 dozen or so varieties I've had is the green mountain organic expresso roast. Good stuff.
Sonthert
Status Report: +9 Hours. Nothing major to report. Thought about hookah once or twice. Thinking about it right now as I'm typing this. Now, my body's thinking about snuff! Like I said, I did some really strong snuff last night and that shit is addictive compared to hookah. Any twangs I might have right now are probably from the snuff. Good night's sleep, well rested. Need caffeine though! That I am addicted to. Sonthert
Follow Up: +10 Hours Drank some Mountain Dew. Any "taste" for smoking disappeared. Caffeine addiction? Possibly. The week is still young. Tom: I don't have a significant other, but I have people I'm around all the time. I'll ask them. I tend to be cranky, irritable and fly off the handle anyways, so I'm sure they won't notice too much of a change. If anything, if the pattern follows, either nothing will happen or I will get quiet and introspective.

pinky
The problem with not smoking hookah is your brain. For my work I spend a week in Boston, where I can't smoke. No problem, as I know I can't. If I am at home and I have an hour I need to smoke. As for your usual consume I would expect at least some headache, like from the coffee / caffein addicted persons that don't get a coffee one day. Jabbles180
Wow it would be a sight to see if i walked into the lounge and you weren't smoking Eric! Good luck with the week off man.I really don't see the problem in quitting for a while. I do go long periods of time without smoking hookah. I have an addictive personality too. The only problem for me would arise if i was told i couldn't ever smoke hookah again. Then my mind would start to wonder off. haha
Chreees
I've gone up to two or three weeks periods where I haven't smoked simply due to being too busy with work/school and all. During these times, I never had an urge to smoke. The only thing I felt, which was rare, was a feeling like "Man, it'd be nice to unwind from all this stress by smoking some Tangy." I have never felt a physical NEED to smoke hookah. It's sad... My sister, who's 17, had to tell the family (only my gparents don't know she smokes) that she was "going outside to take pictures" during our Christmas get-together at my gparents' house. She did this several times. I asked her about it later on why she had to go smoke, and she said, "I have to, I can't help it." Ya know, they say nicotine is what's addictive in cigarettes, but I really wonder about it, considering with hookah we get more nicotine in a single 45 minutes to an hour sesh. My sister, who only smokes cigarettes, can't even stand to go a few hours without one, whereas I feel I could go without hookah ever again. I believe it's the other chemicals they add in cigarettes that makes them so addictive, not nicotine. I've never even felt nicotine withdrawal symptoms... mix_tape
Good for you Eric! I go weeks without smoking so its really easy for me but I guess if your surrounded by it this would make it a lot more difficult. I find I can't eat healthy when I'm surrounded by all the sweet Christmas treats.
Sonthert
Thanks Cassie.
Wow it would be a sight to see if i walked into the lounge and you weren't smoking Eric!
Is that some sort of weird Zen thing? How would I smoke Eric? Is that me or some other Eric? Is me smoking myself like a snake eating is own tail? Status Report, +15 Hours. All's well. Felt some urging, but ate lunch and it went away. I just finished dinner, all's well. I found myself flirting with women more today when I was running errands...I can't believe its due to addiction? I also seemed more relaxed driving, except pedestrians who were crossing the street I wouldn't slow down for, I seemed to be "racing" them to try and hit them. I found myself listening to Mexican Pop Music and AC/DC really loudly. More loudly than I normally would. Is this a sign of addiction? Should I buy some classic AC/DC albums on CD? No, I'm drinking caffeine. Just not using any type of tobacco product. I think its the snuff that's doing something to me... I'm feeling something mentally...I feel like my head is more cloudy, like I'm feeling something mentally. Its hard to describe. Like my head is kind of cloudy, but its hard to be sure. It feels something's going on mentally, though. Like maybe I'm having trouble concentrating or remembering or concentrating. I can't say too well, my head's kind of cloudy. It seems like everyone is talking really fast.
