Sin on Sunday
Saw it the other night in 3D.... to put it simply its a great fucking movie. Pretty long, 2 hr 45 min, but the CGI is terrific, the plot is good, the 3D was great, overall just a win/10. Anyone else seen it? Other opinions? garykainz
I 100% agree! It was fantastic! The 3D was a great surprise for me. It wasn't gimicky (i.e. people reaching towards the screen, etc) but was really intricate and beautiful. The CGI was top notch. Every frame was beautiful. The animation was superb, most evident in the faces of the Na'vi. The story wasn't anything special, but it wasn't bad by any means. Predictability isn't always a liability. I loved it. Definitely in my top 5 movies.
Vladimir
Most predictable movie I have ever seen in my life- I think there is more suspense in a World War II movie! It was entertaining and worth a see, but nothing special in mind. I did not see 3D as it would probably make me sick!
LZ22
Visually it was pretty good. Saw it in IMAX 3D and some parts were really cool. He does a good job immersing you in the alien world with a lot of detail. However, I'm pretty disappointed overall. Story is very weak. Most predictable story ever. Almost every element of the story is a complete ripoff of a dozen other movies just mashed together. Also, I really would have enjoyed it more if he didn't focus on making the movie so political and a 'im making a statement' kind of movie. It was too black and white, too good and evil. Nothing in the story made you wonder or make you pick a side or get emotional or anything. In the end though, the visuals are so cool that I forgot about the weak story most of the movie. Definitely worth seeing in 3D. Blue chicks are hot
Sin on Sunday
really? wow. i admit it was a little predictable but i felt emotionally involved in it. i also felt the plot was pretty solid, was not very political, though it bore a striking reemblence to the way europeans settles north america using greater technology

And I thought that distracted from adding more detail to the story-line. To be honest, I would have been so entertained with just a movie about him learning the ways of the Na'vi. I felt so immersed in their world and culture, it almost made me not even care that there was a storyline going on. I just wanted to see more and more exotic locations and trippy night scenes in the forest
.love.hookah.
I loved that movie, but everyone that went with me to see it said they hated it.
A13lackFish
seen it a bunch, great movie. Bit long for most peoples taste, but an amazing and representative storyline which parallels today's world and our killing of our world with fossil fuels...alas avatar wins out for natures side. Hence its release on earth day. Still have to say it wasn't a win for me over the Hurt Locker but i defiantly have to say it was my 2nd favorite movie of the year hands down. thatonethere
The movie was beautiful, however it gave off a bad vibe . I wasn't impressed with the storyline at all. Everything was very predictable, and almost propagandic to me: Invading race enters New World, fucks everything up, and wipes out the way of life for the original inhabitants all in the name of a particular natural resource. The blessing is the original inhabitants get to pick up the pieces after the good guys attempt to save the inhabitants from the evil ones. Intruders can do good things too even though they hugged the inhabitants while stabbing them in the back at the same time. America...Fuck Yeah!!! I might have read too much into the movie, but that's what I got out of it at the time. Did anybody else catch that vibe from the movie? thecoalition
eh in case no one else has noticed there hasn't been a "new" storyline to a movie in the past 30 or so years. Probably longer. Avater was visually pleasing, but I felt the same about it like I did with world of warcraft....there are more colors than just fucking purple and blue goddamnit!!!! The story was the typical anti-commercialism (which just so happens to reflect most strongly on America) and the fact that everything worked out in the end was very predictable. Now the only twist was at the end and it was also predictable. I won't say it out as it may spoil it but people who watched what happened know exactly what I mean. Overall it was entertaining, but I really don't think it was what all the superfans were harping about. Def a good movie to see in theatres. Personally my favorite movies of the past couple years have been independants and comic book hero movies because they have just been done very well.
