As the title states, and as I am not very computer savvy, would this computer (http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5541848&csid=ITD&body=QA#tabs) support the Sims 3 without any problems? My main concern is the Video Card, as there aren't many details on it in the notebook's description.

Here are the system requirements for the Sims 3: http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq

Also, what do you guys think of this laptop for that price?

Thanks for any feedback.

The empty circuit city building on 21 south is in no shape to sell computers to anybody....

Regarding the computer, I would go with newegg or tigerdirect or something, but definitely HP. For the sims you just need a good amount of RAM and a bit of memory, the graphics card I wouldn't worry much about as long as it's not one of those shitty ones bestbuy tries to sneak in. If it says NVidia go for it ;)

Although it does meet the minimum requirements for running The Sims 3, I would not contend that this laptop meets the minimum requirements for enjoying it. I would advise not purchasing this laptop expecting to enjoy games on it. A few reasons why:

1. Integrated Graphics Card. The difference between having an integrated and a dedicated graphics card is that a dedicated one has it's own set of RAM to use. RAM is similar to our short-term memory and is used in the processing of information. Having an integrated card (typically a part of the motherboard as opposed to a dedicated one) the computer has to process anything related to graphics in addition to its millions of other calculations.

2. Refurbished. There are some situations where buying a refurbished system could be a great way to save money. However buying a Dell laptop from Circuit City is not one of them. Dell's outlet is located at: http://outlet.dell.com/. I personally make the majority of my related purchases at http://www.newegg.com/.

3. Windows Vista. A game like The Sims 3 has a lot going on, and Vista generally has poorer performance than compared to both Windows XP and 7; combine this with your integrated graphics chip and you'll be frustrated whenever your game slows down or becomes less responsive.

TLDR: Don't do it, you will experience problems; shop elsewhere. Good luck!

I think it's great at that price for anything from word processing and internet browsing, to heavy streaming and media that can be comfortably watched on the portable 16" screen. Most games will be playable, but not necessarily as enjoyable as they could be. Even then, expect the laptop to run hot.

But you are better off with TigerDirect or NewEgg

Stuie! There aren't many times I'll get to correct you on anything, but Tiger Direct is owned by the same company that bought the Circuit City brand and infrastructure for use as another online retail subsidiary.

Yes, I know, but they are not obligated to charge sales tax as a result.
