Jacob Shock
i think 4 is to much, but if its working for you continue about your buisness. 3 is how i roll. it nevers gives of to much heat, and dosnt give off to little. and for the record just because your your not burning it dose not meen your using to much heat. if you use to much heat it can still taste "off". what i recomend is try a bowl with 3 coals. if its better than the bowl that uses 4 coals start using 3, if not continue about your buisness using 4 coals. for the second record thier is really no right awnser for this question. thier are a couple wrong awnsers, and a couple right awsners. everybody likes the shisha to smoke differntly. some like a softer smoke, so they use less heat. some people like a heavier smoke so the use more. the only right awnser to this question is is whatever works for you and leaves you satisfied at the end of your session is the right way to do it. oh yea and i know i cant spell awnser. blagage
usually 3 coconara cut in half. 5 halves spread evenly around the outside but that is typically for lucid. OG 3 coconara cut in half 4 halves spread evenly around the outside as they die down i add more.

delSol_si
I use 2 on a small/mini phunnel and use a wind cover and it seems to work great. It may seem like not enough at first, but if you give it a few minutes to let the bowl warm up, it will be perfect, in my opinion at least. That is using CH QLs, btw. Chreees
I use two Coconaras cut into four halves on my small phunnel for everything- Tangiers Noir and Lucid, and Nakhla.
demonix
For CH Nats, I've gotten good result with 4 halves... Starting on the outside of the bowl, then progressively begin to move them to the center. I don't remember how it worked out with 3 whole CH Nats in comparison to 4 halves. I would suggest trying both methods and see which works best and to your preference as far as heat management.
+1 Usually three does it for me. It's nice to see people using more coal on tangiers. I actually find that using less coal makes it more harsh for some reason. I typically use 3 or 4 depending on bowl size (Small - Med) is perfect. I think it has more to do with the overall temp of the bowl vs. scorching shisha where it makes contact with the coal on the foil. If four is working for you...more power to you!
Tbatcho Nice to see ya again man Thats what I use. Windcover as needed, usually to get the bowl going and then again once the coals start dying down.
