Would Love Some Help In Selecting A Hookah!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've always loved going to hookah bars and smoking at friends' houses but have finally decided to purchase my own hookah.

I have searched and searched for a hookah as I really want to make a good choice and hope that my first hookah will last my awhile (the internet is pretty much my only option, fyi).

I am looking at two hookahs right now and would love some feedback.

Also, I'm interested in getting a multiple hosed hookah. I plan on smoking it alone but I know I will mostly be sharing and being able to have 4 hoses is very appealing (the mya is 4 hose the KM is 2)

Other than having to hold the end of the hose when smoking with four people, are there any other down sides to having a multi-hose hookah?

So far, I've been getting great info through reading old posts but I just need some straight answers at this point! Thank you!

multiple hoses isnt always worth it. the quality you get from a 2 hose km will rub the nose of the 4 hose mya into the dirt. imo id rather wait on a good smoke in rotation as opposed to losing a lot of smoke so that everyone has a hose.

id link you to a good site to look at for a well priced KM single hose that i believe converts but i cant so ill say this

www.hookahjohn.com has tons of well priced hookahs with discounts for members of the board, and as a bonus hes a really cool dude.

if your dead set on multi hose, you must go mya. they have an auto seel system so you dont have to hold your thumb over the hose tip, unlike km.

if your going single hose go mya or KM. a km is ussully cheaper than a mya of the same height, but mya makes amazing short hookahs. they work just as well as tall ones IMO.

I feel like I have heard mostly bad things about the Mya's...so this is a change.

If it has the auto-seal system there would be no lose of smoke, correct?

With the four hose, if it were to become a significant problem, wouldn't I be able to plug the additional holes and just go single?
This is my general thought and has me leaning toward the Mya. Just wanted to make sure I don't regret it...which happens a lot with me with online purchases.

No, MYA's are a quality brand.

What he means by auto-seal system is the hose ports.

You just screw those in and you don't have to put your thumb over the hose.
And yes, you can just go single.
Browse around on hookahjohn.com, hookah-shisha.com, and hookahcompany.com
All very good vendors.

I own 2 Myas. It's my brand of choice. Top notch precision in the construction, and amazing smoke because they all have air tight seals. Like everyone else said, the auto seal let's you smke through it, but all your buddies don't have to plug the hose with their thumbs. And personally, I wouldn't get a 4 hose, I think that's overkill. Two or three would get the job done. I have a single hose and consistently smoke with groups of 3-5 people no problem. You will not be let down by a Mya.

Would it make sense to get the four though anyway?

I understand that I probably wouldn't ever really NEED four hoses...but worst case I can just not use all of the hoses.

If its in my budget and there's a good chance I'd be using them, wouldn't it make sense?
(I'm asking honestly, not sarcastically. I just don't really have any idea haha)

Here's what I would do. Get a large Mya Saray hookah. They can be easily converted to two, three and four hoses. They smoke very well also. Go to www.hookah-shisha.com and look at their collection.

Yes, you could always get a 4 hose, and keep a cap on the extras...I have no experience beyond a one hose, but I'm fairly confident that Mya would keep an airtight seal.

As Zinite said, hookah-shisha has an excellent selection of the whole range of Mya's. That is where I bought the 2 I have. I would agree with Zinite...you can get a big one that can just be converted to a multihose at your desire. Every single one from the 14 inch QT to the large 36 in Colossus will smoke amazing, so don't kill yourself over choosing one...just pick which one you think is sexiest! The bases that are pyramidal/triangular-ish shaped would probably be the sturdiest and least prone to tipping with multiple hoses.

You can't lose with a mya QT. Sturdy and portable. I have the conversion ports to go from a one hose to a two house and have used it alone and with friends. The auto seal feature is awesome. just have to remember not to draw when someone else is. I can even set up my rig in its little cage it comes with for smoking while i camp. cage protects the base and it gives you a convenient handle to carry it around.

im just gonna chime in here for a sec because i belive i know something that hasnt been said.

if you get a multi hose mya i should inform you that the auto seel valves DO constrict draw. your gonna want to buy a hose port WITHOUT autoseel for solo sessions. trust me youl thank me later.

with mya hookahs you can screw in and unscrew the hose ports. so you can change them out. the normal hose ports get much better draw than those with auto seel.

Good point. Also by having one port a regular adapter, you will be able to purge it (blow gently into the hose to clear the shaft of stale smoke). If they were all auto seal, you wouldn't be able to do this I think
