Charley
Stuies post about what tv shows you would like to see come back got me thinking. what movies do you think might have been better as a series instead? I know most series based on movies suck but mostly that is because the writers/producers want to try to make them appeal to a wider audience and in turn lose the "magic" that made the movie special. this thread is not about those kinds of shows but rather if they stuck to the same format same writers and they somehow managed to keep the same "magic". then under those conditions what ones would you like to see. I will refrain from posting my list for a little while just to see what you can come up with first.
Chreees
Well, one series that turned into a movie was Firefly. It was a great series. Unfortunately it was cancelled after only 13 episodes. Then the creator Joss Whedon (his current show is Doll House, he also did Buffy the Vampire Slayer) made Serenity the movie to finish the series and show what happens to the characters. Really interesting; definitely worth checking out sometime. I watched the movie first, then found out about the series. The movie makes a LOT more sense after watching the series... Lol, when I watched the movie I didn't understand why they would curse and speak in Chinese at random times. In the series it's explained that in the future the two dominant languages that come out are English and Chinese, and they mix... Just small things like that. One of my favorite series and movie, hands down. On a side note, the guy that plays Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly/Serenity, Nathan Fillion, is rumored to play as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie. It's funny, because the game developers NaughtyDog modeled the character Nathan Drake AFTER Nathan Fillion. Take the time sometime to watch Firefly or Serenity and then play Uncharted 1 or 2 on PS3 and you'll see what I'm talking about. Perhaps Lost could be made into a movie somehow? Idk, the cliffhangers are perfect for a series... /endrant
Charley
other way around man lol movies to series such as how the movie buffy became the series buffy (altho that is a bad example because they completely retooled it for the series. and im talking about keeping it as close as possible to the original movie. but fortunately it was on of the few times "retooling" actually worked out well.) Chreees
Well... shit. Can we have it the other way around as well? Lol. Um, let's see... Tomb Raider as a series? It's gone from video game-> movies-> and now it could be a series... I wouldn't mind seeing Angelina Jolie on TV every week... hehe. TWILIGHT as a series! Oh wait... We already have Vampire Diaries... Close enough. (JUST KIDDING GUYS) Jurassic Park as a series somehow? Now I'm really going out there... INDIANA JONES! Nah, already had a series... It was called Adventures of Young Indiana Jones with Sean Patrick Flannery... I heard it was an epic fail. I need to look at my movies when I get off work... I'll report back. EDIT: Resident Evil... Talking to Charley in Chat and he said some zombie movies would be good as series... Made me think of Resident Evil...

[/quote] I liked that show altho it was a series only in the fact that they showed it as one here it was originally just a chain of movies (called serials) much the way the spider man movies from the 70's were actually made for tv movies that kept the story line going from movie to movie which is actually a through back to the 30's 40's and 50's where they would show them in theaters every week before or after the featured movie. Chreees
These are all really great, Charley... I'd really like to see a Underworld series the most. I believe Tenacious D was attempted as a series... They only aired a few episodes, and it failed... It may not have been necessarily Tenacious D, but I know it was for sure Jack Black and Kyle Gass.... Either way I watched them replayed on some random-ass channel a long time ago... Damn man, that reminds me, I need to get Brutal Legend for PS3... Aight, back to bed for me...

KyleTheJustin
I think making a zombie movie into a TV series would ruin zombies for me. Many of the zombie movies I've seen, this being a great deal of them, leave an open-ended ending that keeps people interested in wondering what happened. If someone spelled it out in 5 seasons or so, it would become pretty annoying in my opinion. Though the elements of continuation are there, I think they are best left in movie format. I think to bring back the vampire goodness into our hearts, at least from the standpoint of the first two movies, I'd like to see an Underworld series with Kate Beckinsale in it. I think it would be awesome for her career and it would be really, really interesting if they kept it dark like the movies. Also, the new series on HBO or Starz coming out that deals with the gladiators looks fucking amazing. I think it's called "Sparticus" or something? LZ22
I think The Matrix would make a great TV series. Maybe animated. The Animatrix DVD was really really good, it consisted of like 9 30 minute episodes of stuff about the Matrix. Almost none of them actually were about the movies themselves, but other stuff like school children getting caught in a Matrix glitch. I think an animated series could be pretty cool. Daze and Confused would make an awesome TV show!

Like transformers when the first one ended you see star scream bailing out and leaving. that left it perfectly open for another movie. its really easy for a movie to be left open ended and set up for sequels. think of the saw series.
