mattbb
I am looking for a list (or am going to create one if it doesn't exist) of hookah manufacturers (equipment and tobacco). I realize that there aren't a lot of "big" companies out there, but am looking to see if there is one so I don't reinvent the wheel. Any thoughts? Sonthert
Magdy Zidan is history. Al Nahwra is a Syrian Hookah Manufacturer. Mitsuba is a Chinese Hookah Manufacturer. Al Ashry is an Egyptian Hookah Manufacturer. Kasir and Nour are importers that have distinctive products. They aren't the manufacturers, but they have a consistent product line. How much in depth do you want to go?
mattbb
Thanks for the info. this is a good start and helpful. Level of detail (how in-depth) will depend on how much I can find - if it turns out there are just too many small mom-and-pop manufacturers I'm not sure how far I will proceed, but if there are a few dozen (or less) manufacturers that produce most of the tobacco and equipment (mostly looking at the U.S. at this point), then I may go into some depth. Sonthert
Al Fakher is an importer, their hookahs are made in part by Al Nahwra. Thats why I was asking how much in depth Matt wanted to go. There are dozens and dozens of hookah manufacturers in Cairo alone. A listing of them would be quite formidable, but I think its a valuable project and would be willing to assist you in any way possible.
mattbb
Just to clarify, I'm not looking in order to get into the biz as a manufacturer/distributor - just trying to get informed. I'm learning quickly what folks have already indicated - there are a LOT of small manufacturers and distributors out there, some affiliated with larger companies and many more just independent looking to sell their wares. From what I can tell, it doesn't appear that any of the companies are publicly traded but are all privately held corporations which makes finding information more difficult/challenging. But I'm going to keep digging for a bit longer.
