Kaspersky, last I checked, was always ranked the highest among the paid programs.

+1 Nothing else compares

Norton... Just say No! worst of the lot. Getting rid of that plague is worse than the damn malware!

Getting rid of norton is extremely easy. Visit Symantec website and download the norton removal tool, run it, and BAM its all gone. BTW you should do this when switching AntiVirus programs from Symantec instead of using add/remove programs.

Easy, except for all the references it leaves in the registry.

i'm just gonna say it once more Microsoft Security Essentials. after that i like nod32.
security essentials(free): http://www.microsoft...ITY_ESSENTIALS/
eset nod32 (30 day free trial): http://www.eset.com/products/nod32.php
eset system security (replaces windows firewall and does everything for you, 30 day free trial): http://www.eset.com/smartsecurity/
kaspersky also offers free 30 day trials: http://usa.kaspersky...omeProducts.php

i'd suggest trying a few out. see how you like the user interface and how intrusive they are.

you should remove norton. it's a piece of shit and doesn't protect you from hardly anything. it also is a massive resource hog and will slow down your system. also running multiple AV programs at the same time doesn't work.
here is the link for norton removal tool: http://service1.syma...005033108162039

make sure you write down your serial number! just in case you ever want to switch back.

as for the registry keys it leaves you could try ccleaner to remove them. when prompted to backup the keys you are removing definitally back it up.

ccleaner website: http://www.ccleaner.com

you can also use it to clean out temporary files, cookies, browser history, browser cache. using ccleaner before doing a full system scan will definitally speed up the scan because it removes a ton of files you don't need, especially if you are using ie. if you want to save ur history/cookies just disable cleaning of those files.

I use ESET NOD32 antivirus. Best out there besides possibly Kaspersky's lab. I like to come at it with a combo of the antivirus and Haute Secure so that I know that nothing is screwing around with my system.

if you want to actually support people working hard, id say buy kaspersky or nod32. i use and support both. excellent programs.

Definitely agree with these two. I use nod32 and it is incredible. Barely uses any resources, runs incredibly smooth, and has never missed a virus.
Kaspersky is also solid, from reviews i've read.

Word to the wise.... Do NOT download Microsoft Security Essentials.... It bogged down my system so bad. I uninstalled it and was running super fast again. Reinstalled AVG Free. This may just be me, I don't know...

according to reviews and information from higher up tech guys at m$ its good. you might have something that would fuck with MSE. if you are using free software you should run malwarebytes full scan once a week. it catches most stuff but it doesn't have real time protection like nod32.

Yep, I run Malwarebyte's atleast once a week, every weekend while I'm at work (I take my laptop to work). I don't know what MSE could've been conflicting with... I didn't have any other anti-virus installed when I had it...
