Another Article That Will Make No Real Difference In The Fight.

Good Luck, Mush.

I am praying the Heart of America (small business) will overcome. Government should stay out of business. Especially Small business. That's what they are afraid of. They can control and manipulate bigger business, but they can't small business...unless they drag them out to pasture with stupid legislation, and probably the ONLY reason this got through is because it's a tobacco related business.

Hey maybe by the end of this you could own the State. Just make sure you have a good lawyer, and you could be Governor of HookahLand (formerly North Carolina)!!!!!!

I tell you, running for public office after all this might be fun. :)

Sadly this is the only recourse for rationality, because rationality in Every level of government (regardless of party) is in low amounts now days (centuries).

I know it sucks to have the government assuming such broad powers to tell honest people what they can and can't do on their private property. I'm right there with you, man.

Roll with the punches, find something else to supplement your profit centers to replace the beer. Make your money back and get out...or you might find you still enjoy it and want to stay in.

I fail to understand why smoking bans cover venues with patrons over the age of 18, like bars and nightclubs. If you said no smoking in a business that minors are allowed in and if you allow smoking, there must be clear warning signs as such out front, that would be one thing. To just blanket ban smoking in alcohol establishments smacks of dictatorial oppression. Its my property, government should keep the hell off of it. I don't agree with smoking bans on private property. I don't think the government has the right to make laws that cover what we do on our private property.

That being said, I understand the anti-smoking people's frustration at having to smell smoke whenever they go out. I feel the same way as I hate the smell of cigarettes. What is now a flagrantly ignored social construct is being a legally mandated morality. We have to come to some sort of understanding, but having the government make a baby-sitter rule is absurd.

Because of this:

I've never had problems with people smoking at home, or in places designated for the activity..only people I've ever agreed with is the bans on smoking in most public places and regular bars(no hookah involved). The local bar here used to drive me batty because I couldn't see 2 feet in front of my face through all the cig smoke(which I was never a huge fan of)...That aside, in this case, I still don't understand why the state won't allow the sale of alcohol and tobacco in the same place of business. That's just ridiculous, seeing as it is a designated place for smoking..and in this case it is hookah.

Makes you wonder how some of these fools get into government..let alone out of college :)
