Brandon`
Yea I bought about 2 Kilo's of Tombac. I'm gonna try and make my own shisha. So I read someplaces that first you soak the tombac for 5 hours then you put it in the oven at about 100 Degrees and i've also heard 300 Degrees? I also had heard that you boil the tombac? Which is it lol, I don't want to mess this up. Would strawberry syrup work as a flavoring? Thanks for your help.
Codename067
It does not sound like you are going far with this to be honest with you. I don't think the tobacco is ever boiled, as much as I know at least.
Chreees
Yeah, never heard of the tobacco being boiled.... Where did you hear this?
Jacob Shock
ive made my own shisha several times. first off you dont need to boil it. thats a retarded idea. second you dont need to wash it for 5 hours. i get it wet squeez it out then bake it. there is no set tempature, but 100 seems a bit low and 300 a bit high. you just want it to be less soaked, wile still having some moisture. dont know about strawberry syrup, but i assume it will work. just remember your sauce needs to have alot if vegtable glycerin. i use about 40% vegtable glycerin(Thick fuckin smoke). so i assume vegtable glycerin and strawberry syrup would work, but i dont know how starberry syrup smokes. i will recomend hard candy flavor oils for flavor. there alot stronger and work great. i usually flavor mine with spices. just for the record. any questions? [/quote] Shit. Don't boil it. I've been doing that wrong all this time? You can pick any temperature you want to dry it. I would guess 350F would be about the top temperature involved. You don't need to soak it for 5 hours by any means. 20 minutes through a strainer should work well. Use cold water, not hot water. You don't really need to boil the type of tobacco you are making. I boil mine, but thats a completely different thing. I would guess strawberry syrup would not work too well. Jacob's right, you will also need glycerine. You should also get some sort of sweetening agent: honey or corn syrup probably, They are the easiest for the type of tobacco you are trying to make. Jacob Shock
Some more tips. the longer you wash it, the weaker and less tobaccoy it will be. be sure to make a CONSITANT smokeable cut. dont make huge batches, your probably gonna fuck it up your first time. honey=sweater molasses=heartier glycerin=mushroom clouds, to much and it tastes a little flat. honey and molases are a much better sweetner. agave=waste of time(in my expiernce, and opinion) let it chill for a day to let the sauce become 1 with the tobacco. i generally perfer my wetness to be a little less than tangiers. dont use flavor extracts with alcahol
Brandon`
Once i'm done with the Tombac, Wetting and drying it, I'm going to use this as a Mixture, I'm thinking about 40% Glycerin, 20% Grandma's Molasses, 10% Honey, And The rest Flavoring/Oils. Good?
Brandon`
OK I went to Kroger, Rite Aid, And CVS. None of them had Vegetable Glycerin. Cvs had "Pure Glycerin" Would that work? Rite Aid told me that they had to take it off the shelves, the government made them saying it can be used to make bombs.
Bulldog_916
I use Modern Botanicals Vegetable Glycerin made here in Rancho Cordova. Works pretty well. And honey. Then flavoring.

Jeff_T
After seeing the glycerin at walmart and walgreens around here I decided to go to a grocery store, like whole foods, and got some vegetable glycerin. It seems safe to consume and has worked well when I've made my own shisha (if it could be called that). When I did mine, I soaked the loose tobacco for about 15min and rinsed it afterward. I dried mine on a paper towel for about an hour, then mixed everything together. It wasn't bad but if you want it to be flavorful I've heard to use candy flavoring oils or something like that. I used cut up, cooked, mashed fruit for one batch and jam for another. The jam didn't really do much and the fruit gave the shisha a hint of flavor, but nothing much. Hope it goes well. Let us know when you've got it done and smoking.

twoapplesplease
Good luck..I also been interested in making some myself I was thinking of using a small kitchen food dehydrator to make it..one with a heat element like for making jerkey..I was thinking you could use the flat trays they come with, you know the ones for making your own fruit roll ups.I was gonna try soaking the tombac in some herbal tea maybee a mint or a rose or some thing like that...then adding some clove....Id also like to get a good vanillia extract and make a nice mellow smoke...awsome good luck
