Lebanese Purchases

Recommended Posts

I managed to find a replacement vase in Beirut for the one that broke...Sadly it's not as pretty (or the same attractive deep, dark green) as the old one, but it's green, the same style, and the same size as far as I can tell. I also bought some attractive Lebanese-style tongs (not as sturdy as the ones I got here 5 years ago, but still unlike anything you can get elsewhere) and three unglazed Lebanese male style bowls...These are perhaps the most interesting: two are identical, and extremely wide and shallow, which to me sounds like a good thing, so there's no wasted mu'assal at the bottom of the bowl which doesn't get vaporized. The third one is a bowl specifically for Ajami tobacco, which I still hope to try. I leave tomorrow afternoon--if I get a chance to snag a cheap, big, nargile here before then, I'll upload some pics of that :)

I am really digging that base. I love that color of Green!

Those bowls are super interesting. The one for Ajami is supper sweet looking!

For that price, it's super sweat deal!

those bowls are all for tombek or ajamy. the shallow wide ones might work for mu'essal but i doubt it, try it and let me know.

I asked about the shallow wide ones, because I thought they were for 'ajami too and I was assured that no, they're for mu'assal. To me it makes sense, why have all the stuff at the bottom of the bowl not getting any heat?

Btw, at Kuwait duty free I picked up two 250g sealed tins of al-Waha double apple. I'm a DA guy--is it any good? It was cheap as hell, $4 or so per tin, so I didn't want to pass it up
