Loumeer
So I live in GA where it has gotten really humid and really hot in the last week. For the last week smoking Tangiers has been near impossible for me because it wouldnt taste good or taste realy harsh and ashy.Last night I was having simiar problems smoking with my friend when he asked "Why don't you try and put some tobacco in the bowl without stirring it."So, we tried this and the smoke was great. Here is how it works, let the tobacco acclimate outside for a few hours, but instead of stirring it before you smoke, just take the tobacco that is on the top and looks a little drier than the rest.Report back with resaults.--Amichai Israeli
zzzzzT
The KEY to smoking Tangiers for me is two things.Pack the bowl good. Don't sprinke or lightly pack the tobacco.Don't leave a space between the tobacco and the foil, let the coal sit right on the foil with the tobacco touching the foil. I like to pack the tobacco a little over the bowl. I know this goes against the advice about how other brands smoke but it does work. I also use a pin to make a good number of holes about 40 in the foil.Once I did these two things I got nice smooooth smoke and flavor.

Loumeer
Yeah, I hope people read this so that maybe it will work for more people.--Amichai Israeli
SanguineSolitude
its just because the top layer is more acclimated than the rest since its in air contact. try stirring the whole pot occasionally during the acclimation. and acclimate for longer. but if you dont have time or patience for that your way works great. Loumeer
I dont know, I have been acclmating for 2 days stirring every so often and that didn't work. This is the only method that is working for me.--Amichai Israeli
Sonthert
Hmmm. I'll have to try that myself. Some flavors may separate, making the flavor screwed up...maybe its a "Raindance effect". Maybe the tobacco acclimated itself finally and that had more to do with the success than your modification, i.e. it was a coincedence...try reverting to the old manner of doing it and see. Maybe I'm crazy.
