Reborn Nargile Pics!

Recommended Posts

As requested in this post, here are pics of my back-in-business nargile, uniting my 5 year old Lebanese pipe with a brand new, Lebanese purchased but Egyptian made vase!

whole thing: wide shallow head in the pipe. in front: green Mya Lebanese style, second wide shallow head, large, deep Turkish head, and finally the head for 'Ajami

closeup of the cloisonné work on the stem (it's not quite this dark in real life):

Etchings on the screw-down ash tray:

'Ajami head:

not pictured in the lineup above, old traditional Lebanese mu'assal head, when I bought the pipe 5 years ago, the vendor said this bowl was best for smoking (vs display):

Mya Lebanese head, which incidentally doesn't fit so well (too narrow):

And my nargile next to my roommate's, which incidentally has my Tangiers bowl on it, since I couldn't get an adapter for my pipe...

Measured for the first time, 29" to top of head socket, 31" measured to top of head. All in all, the vase is a bit loose--electrical tape can fix that, and I'm pretty happy. The original nargile, with large Mya case, came to less than $50 5 years ago, the new vase plus three bowls and new tongs cost $10. Lebanon rocks!

Thanks! I haven't seen a stem like it elsewhere, neither in several nargile shops in Lebanon or Turkey, nor on any Mya...I'd really love to know the origin of it...
