Codename067
I use this material..forgot what it was called..I will find out for you tonight. I never boiled it before, I'm almost certain that it should be ok to boil.
Chreees
I've heard of people boiling it for five minutes... You should be okay.
delSol_si
believe it or not, i have successfully used a wad of crinkled up foil to clean mine...it worked really well too.
inino
I just use a scotch brite and takes off pretty much everything. cleaning after every session helps to keep the build up low.
dizzbizz
I just stare at my bowl and it cleans itself

JOE
yah mine is seriously caked on, a few mm worth. i do scrub it each time with a scotch brite but it doesnt come off, so i think i need to boil
rhineholt
I think your problems might be not cleaning it after every use. I find it to be a lot easy to clean the bowl after I just finished smoking. Another thing, try to make sure all the tobacco is off the side of the bowl before smoking it. hookah hippie
as it was said before scotch brite it works really well
phantastik
If you've got another bowl to use for the time being, what i usually do is soak one of my phunnels in a cup of cold water for days at a time. by the 24th-48th hour, the water would have changed color and you are able to see how much cleaner soaking. Shoot it even smells cleaner! Never tried boiling it though, i'm too much of a pansy to try that.
illiniSAC
I just use steel wool. Haven't had any problems with paint coming off either, by the way. I usually smoke at night, and clean in the afternoon.
JOE
yeah, i will be boiling it tonight, taking before and afters, i dont think some of you realize how bad my bowl is. my phunnel laughs at me when i bring the scotch brite out
Chreees
I think you guys' problem is y'all just take forever to clean your phunnel after you finish smoking and allow all that crap to get stuck on there. If you clean it right after smoking you shouldn't even have to scrub it really. I can just easily rub my clean with my fingers and water... ryno
Usually use a sponge with a scotch bright pad side on it and hot water. Like other said, you might need to clean it more often.
I believe they are:P I myself am lazy, my Phunnel has like black caked on crap around the rim of the bowl and also around the rim of the hole. I think I need to boil mine too, I never have done but it looks like I will have too. Once I finished smoking I just leave it there, I put my hookah to the side and it can sit there for like 2-5 days without getting touched. The next time I decide to smoke it I have to unwrap the foil and clean it up to smoke, I sir am lazy haha

Sonthert
They are dishwasher safe. I would rinse them real well after, if I did that though. Many dishwashing detergents have residue that makes dishes come out "spotless" which is really a thin layer of soap. I soak mine in cold water for 24 hrs. That gets them pretty clean. If there's stuck on black stuff, use a green scrubby sponge.
JOE
...so I boiled it. ended up with good results. I had to let it sit in the boiling water for a couple minutes, then pull it out, take a layer of the caked on crap off with a steel wool pad. I repeated that process about 3 or 4 times. here are some before and after pics another dirty and CLEAN!
