A7mad
So I've come to realize that the majority of users on this forum use Male pipes/Female bowls. In fact many of you even dislike the Female pipe/Male bowl. Is there a particular reason why? I've tried both types of hookahs and I prefer the Female pipe simply because an unglazed small Lebanese bowl is awesome imo. It has great heat management, is cheap and best of all doesn't use much shisha. The last point probably isn't a problem for you guys but it's $70 for 250g of shisha here so Lebanese bowls are a huge plus for me. I must admit, most of the male pipes I've used are of better build quality than the female ones, but I'm just not a fan of mod/egyptian bowls. However I've yet to try a phunnel bowl (in fact I never heard of one till I joined the forum) but I hope to remedy that soon when I get some money to import one. So yea. Why do you prefer the Male pipe/dislike the female pipe.
Chreees
I like a male just so I can use my phunnel...
mushrat
myfirst pipe was what used to be called a "syrian" using a male bowl. I prefer it with the exception of being able to use phunnels. The juices drip down the pipe not into the tray, the bowls don't fall off the stem as easily, and they are easier to fit into the stem top. You just dont see them much anymore so the Egyptian styles are what people tend to use and like these days.
Hassouni
I've got a Lebanese nargile, and I vastly prefer it to an Egyptian. I like the bowls more for the reasons you said, I think overall they tend to look better, and also, the bowl is situated much closer to the tray, not as high up as an Egyptian, so if your coals fall, the chances are better they land on the tray vs the floor
qazxcv
Like you said it uses less shisha. It also looks more old-school. But I also have some small egyptians that don't use a lot of shisha. I dont think there's a big difference in terms of smoking. I like them both
hookah hippie
The only reason I have a preference is due to the phunnel bowl

Hassouni
my larger Leb bowls, like the Mya one, can be reasonably faked into a funnel with foil, I've got Tangiers to last about 4 hours that way
Guest Cheng
More practical, also theres more options for male stems e.g. phunnel bowl which I like

[/quote] I saw some aussie sellers on ebay selling KM stuff, maybe you could get a phnnel bowl from there? I use a phunnel bowl now and it smokes a lot better then the standard bowls. But one thing I miss about standard bowls is that the juices run down the stem and into the water which makes the water flavored. I did this the other time, I smoked outta my standard bowl, and the water was red (AF Double Apple) and the next day I fired up my Phunnel and it tasted sexy (I was lazy I couldnt be arsed to change the water) Edited January 11, 2010 by Cheng
Sonthert
I think the female hookah-male bowl's a better design, personally. I had to guess one way or the other, Male bowl or female bowl. Since female bowls (Egyptian) seemed to be crushing the Male (Syrian) ones, I made all my bowls female. I do make Male-Female adapters out of respect for the Female hookahs though, so Tangiers bowls can theoretically fit on either standard type. They don't sell well...very few left of that noble lineage of hookahs left.
