Hookha + Music

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the board!

For me, literally anything but gangster-rap or country. My favorites are blues, acoustic alternative, post-rock, ambient, electronica, art rock, shoegaze, and space rock.

The thread title had me extremely excited for a moment. I thought someone had created a hybrid hookah / musical instrument... like a banjo... or a recorder, but in reverse...

I just listen to whatever I am in the mood for. I don't really change my preferences just because I am smoking hookah. I know a lot of people who prefer to listen to more mellow music while smoking. I listen to Rock, Alternative, even some harder stuff like Hard Rock, and Metalcore. It keeps me awake if I am smoking alone.

metalcore is pretty good too. i like more melodic stuff though. like a little more of a 2-step feel...not emo tho. def not.

Lol well kinda, I guess. It's a late-80s movement that kinda bridged the gap between the British New Wave and grunge. It refers to bands like The Cure, Blur, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, The Jesus and Mary Chain, etc...

I can dig the melodic stuff. I used to be really big into Prog Metal/Rock so I can definitely appreciate that kind of music. I am really into A7X. Their old stuff AND their new stuff. Their newer stuff is pretty melodic, some consider them emo though so I don't know if you would be a fan. I don't see how their emo, but whatever. Bullet, Atreyu, Trivium, and All That Remains are some more of my favorite Metalcore groups.

I like to listen to a ton of diff stuff, but making a station on Pandora has never let me down for some good jams during a hookah session. I've got stuff from like Miles Davis and Robert Johnson, to Godspeed! You Black Emperor and Explosions in the Sky to Thursday, Recover, Park and Norma Jean, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, and Oh, Sleeper.

Nothing like some Godspeed! and explosions to put yourself in a meditative trance and think deep thoughts! Also very good walking home from the library at 2am music :)
