Egypt Specific Shisha.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have a classmate who is currently visiting Cairo and he asked me if I wanted anything, I already said a hookah but would any of you be aware of shisha that is specific to Egypt or the Arabic speaking world? Anything notably good? And if so flavors from the specific brands that set them apart.

Thanks,
Alex J

I can't speak for Egypt, but having been all over Lebanon and the Gulf, I haven't really seen any brands you can't get here or easily online: Nakhla and al Fakher are HUGE there

nakhla is really cheap over there. about $5 for 500g.

I already get Naklah pretty cheap locally. And I currently have more tobacco than sense. So if I were to pick up something, it would be something extraordinary. Thanks for the input though, it is truly appreciated.

Was there a member here that got a special mint or apple from over there that's not available here? My mind is not running at 100%, so this could be completely false...

I think I know what you're talking about. He had pointed someone in the direction to acquire it and there were some pictures of it... I can't remember the name though, but he said it was the best apple or DA ever made.

There's a ton if brands that have not made their ways over seas, either because of no demand or they are too small of a company. Personally, I would look for the hand made stuff, go around shops and what not. You will find mostly Nakhla over there from what I have heard and saw when i was there. No point in buying a kilo of Nakhla for 4 bucks when there's a diamond in the rough hiding somewhere. I would think one of the lounges would have a hook up and they get a great hand made tobacco they serve exclusively in their shop, maybe...

I'm sure there's good brands over there, but your friend probably won't find them, or bring back one that's terrible. It's impossible to tell how good they are just by looking at them. You would have to try them in a cafe.

I dunno, there's something to be said for getting very fresh mu'assal for a fraction of what it costs here. Even if your friend can't find anything unusual, it's worth asking him to bring back lots of your favorite. At the Dubai airport, 250g of AF was laughably cheap, like $2-3, and in Kuwait 250g of al-Waha was about $4

See if he can find AMAREN (the cherry is especially good), Al Ghamdi (pomegranate and grape or Jasmine and Honey). Both are brands that are popular in the Middle East and not easily found in the states and REALLLLLLLLY GOOD!
