Tried To Teach Somebody...

The other day, I was talking to an owner of a hookah lounge about Tangiers. He said he never heard of it and that I should bring some in.
So last night, thats exactly what I did.
Towards the middle of the night, he came over and looked at the tobacco (OG Horchata) and immediately said "Oh I've seen this shit. They smoke it in the old country. It's called Zaghloul. I've tried it and I hated it"
I tried to explain to him that it was definately not Zaghloul, but he said "No, it smells exactly like it. You're not supposed to use foil with it, just put the coals on top." I kept telling him that I knew what he was talking about and I kept reassuring him that it wasn't that.
In the end, he didn't try it.
After he left, he came back with another hookah and said "Try this shit."
I was assuming it was something really strong, but it was just Passion Fruit by Starbuzz...

I just wanted to explain this because I was talking about it with Spectrum and Incubussss.

Oh, I also saw this. I thought it was pretty nice.

Well, the thing that made him not want to try it was the smell...
Maybe if I came with Orange soda or something he'd want to try it.

i think it does look a little similar but the smell is totally different from zaghoul and horchata

nope..unless it wasn't acclimated, he may have confused the bbq/burnt tobacco smell as unflavored tobacco...or since you said it was OG, there's a slight tobacco smell if you get up really close to the tobacco. so, that's what he was probably thinking. not to mention, there's no modern shisha readily available in the US that looks like Tangiers. i dunno....Tangiers throws a lot of people off...but, i love it!

this is why a lot of times, i don't tell people what i loaded until after they try it. most of the time if i load something and it doesn't "sound" good them they are automatically turned off and either 1. won't try it, or 2. will try it but will have their nose turned up and a "disgusting" look in their face before they even take the hose.

example: a few of the guys i smoke with every once in a great while were smoking with me one time and I loaded some Tangiers (this was before i figured out how to pack it right and manage the heat properly) and they said it was harsh and disgusting. Fair enough, i was unexperienced at the time. Next time, i loaded it again, they asked and I said "its Tangiers" and they said "yuck, i that stuff sucks, i don't want to smoke then." i say "its not bad anymore, i figured out how to smoke it correctly" they say "well, ok, ill try it." they try it and say "yuck, it still sucks, this is harsh." so, the next time we are smoking, i load it in AGAIN and they ask "what did you load?" i said "i dunno, i just grabbed something" and they said, "oh ok, cool" and then they try it and said "holy shit, this is REALLY good, what is this stuff?" then i said "its Tangiers"

lol...had to laugh, as long as they didn't know it was tangiers and went in with an open mind, it taste great to them.

Anddddddd it might have been because it wasn't accimilated, but it smelled normal to me... Like, even better then lucid. He did get really close to it and took a big sniff.
