Drawn Hookah Sig. And Annoyance

Recommended Posts

So first off my sig... then next when I tipped over my Mya Petite I found out I got water logged in the hose ...and now when ever I use that hose it has an annoying bubble like sound or something... I've blown out water and put the minimal amount of water in my Petite ...but it's like my hose is making it's own H2O ... >.< I've use paper towels to mop it up and a lot of water came out recently and what not but .... I know the Mya Hose I have is non-washable ... do you think with that I should Replace my hose... I mean it's not much to replace them in the first place...?

take the hose outside and swing it around in a big circle until all the water is slung out, or the neighbors call the men in white coats. Then hang it, ends facing down, in the bathroom for a few hours.

Mya hoses are not washable. The good folks at Mya like to lie and say they are. But they're not.

Like mentioned above, give the hose a good swing and it should be alright. But you might consider going with a different hose anyway since those that come with the Petite are so... um... petite. ;)

actually they ARE washable, they are NOT rustproof. There is a distinct difference. They can be washed a few times because the coil is wrapped in plastic as opposed to a traditional hose where the coil is bare and you can't wash it even once. Use cold water btw not hot or it will undo the glue on the plastic.

Check the water levels on your hookah. If they are too high water will be bubbling up and into the port and then into your hose. We have a problem with that when my employees fill the hookahs too high.

Id say use it until you start to get rust particles in your mouth, then replace it.

I don't know if Mya uses different construction techniques for different hoses, but the last time I cut open a Mya hose, the wire was on the INSIDE of the plastic and there was no coating on it other than rust.

The construction of those hoses is actually kind of interesting, IMO. They take a wire coil, wrap it with a few layers of clear plastic a bit thicker than Saran Wrap, then cover the plastic with vinyl and wrap it with a string to keep it all together. The guys at Mya had me convinced they were using some new technology that made their hoses washable, but after I had twenty of them rust on me, I cut one open and saw the same thing I see in all cheap, non-washable hoses. So I'm a bit biased AGAINST Mya hoses at this point.

Mush, I don't really understand the point of calling a hose washable if it's not rustproof. That's like selling an unpoppable tire thats not nailproof. I tell people to never wash their unwashable hoses. I know it's inevitable for hoses to get a bit damp inside, but it seems like at least attempting to keep it dry would prolong its life. Just my $0.02. :)

Well that's that annoying part... I know I'm not over filling the hookah Base, In fact because of what happened I'm trying to always put in just the minimal. In the square like pattern of the Petite there are like Four and a half or a quarter square designs in the glass. The down stem goes just below the top two... so if you want to put the minimal amount of water you line it up with the bottom of the second square if you want a little more you go for the top of the second square.. and doing it that way I've never gotten liquid in... Hell it's like I'm smoking with pure Milk in the base for how it seems the liquid to be in the hose .....

But from your explanation of the construction along with ih303 it seems it would be a good idea to get a new hose... I'll hang this hose up again and try to get it back but I think inevitably it would be safer to get a new hose.

Thank's guys for the help again.

Like Sariel said, after a good swinging I'd drape it over your shower head for a day or two to make sure all the water is out. It wouldn't hurt to get another hose, but I think with water being in it once you should be fine. Mya does make one hose that is completely washable, if you're interested. I use this hose on my QT most of the time. I've had it for like 4 years and it's been washed a ton and is still in great condition.

The hookah bar which I use to work at used the mya hoses, we had washed the hoses once, a short time later we noticed rust particles coming out of them. It's not the healthiest thing to smoke. The mya hoses are great hoses but I would not wash one. I would keep using the hose unless you start to get rust particles coming out of it.

The real question here is HOW THE HELL did you tip over a Petite!?!?

:P

Don't worry I'm trying to figure that one out to....Either 1. I had the hose caught in my foot or 2. it got kicked over...

But I think I'll go for 3. a mix of both 1 and 2

it's the only thing that makes sense in knocking out well as you put "a Petite!?!?"

I can't see a petite getting knocked over so much as sliding off a table. I always tell people who are interested in buying one that they might want to consider getting something with a bit more weight. The petites are too light, IMO.
