ih303
If this has already been covered in another thread, please redirect me. My initial searches turned up nada. It came to my attention yesterday that I had been selling fake Nammors to customers at my lounge. A fellow forumite sent me a message telling me he had stumbled upon a thread on another forum talking about unwashable imposters being passed as Nammors. He went on to experiment with the one I had sold him by running a magnet over it and sure enough, it stuck. When I got to the lounge last night, I performed the same test with the same results. So now I'm pissed. What I'd like to know is the origin of this scam. Did I get duped by the wholesaler I bought the hoses from or are they as much of a victim as I? I did get a pretty good deal on the imposters, but it's not uncommon for prices to fluctuate in this market. I'm going to call them today and see what's up. Looks like I also need to stick with Razans. Fortunately, those and my Grands passed the magnet test. I know I see imposter threads bounce around here from time to time. So is this news or am I beating a dead horse?
*CONSUMER ALERT* Be wary of other online vendors selling "Nammor" hoses that have a similar design and look. We are the sole manufacturers and distributors of the Nammor Hookah Hose and own the trademark. The "Nammor" hoses sold on other websites are KNOCK-OFFS. We stand by the quality of our products and these cheap imitations do damage to our name and reputation. You can only find genuine Nammor hoses here at www.Hookah-Shisha.com. ih303
Yeah, I gotta figure this out. The wholesaler I got them from is reputable so I wonder if they were fooled too.
tini
that is unfortunate. I actually bought a nammor off hookah shisha and then later saw what looked like one at a tobacco shop in pearl river ny. Cant really tell the difference as of yet though except for the shade and the hose tips. TheScotsman
a magnet really shouldn't stick to the hose if it's washable.

newjacksm
i've ripped apart my nammor. The rubber tubing was hiding a thick wrapped coil that you would use to close up loafs of bread this was in the nammor to keeps its structure (I am assuming). Anywho this thick plastic tubing was completely covering this coil and there was no rust anywhere to be found. I've used this nammor for a year and a half before i decided to cut deep into it. This is what you may be picking up. I suggest you do some surgery on one of your nammors to know for sure. ih303
I ran a magnet over a Razan and a Grand Caravan the other day at the lounge and got nothing. I think the difference is that true washable hoses use corrugated rubber tubing where the corrugations give the hose shape and rigidity. Unwashable hoses take a coil of wire and cover it with something to form the hose. At least this is the case with every washable/unwashable hose I've ever dissected. So, to set the record straight, the only truly washable hoses I know of are the Razan, Nammor, Grand Caravan, Narbish, and the AF Healthy Hose. Am I missing any? Stuie
Mushrat has been saying for a while washable does not equal rustproof. So here's some definitions to help us. Hoses can fall into 3 categories. Unwashable - Hose will immediately fall apart or start deteriorating on the first wash. Metal Coil is often completely exposed. Washable - Hoses can be washed, but are not necessarily rustproof, washing should be sparingly. Metal coil is usually wrapped in some kind of casing or coating. Rustproof - Hoses can be washed as frequently as needed. No metal coil is exposed in the hose.
ih303
I've never seen a hose with a metal coil that is protected from moisture in any way that I can tell. Do you have an example of such a hose? Also, have you seen hoses advertised as "rustproof"? Most of the time I just see washable hoses. So what does that mean? Stuie
I've never seen a hose with a metal coil that is protected from moisture in any way that I can tell.
I had a Social Smoke Washable that had some kind of coating on the coil when I ripped it open, and I believe the New My Wide handles have the same thing. The SS hose lasted a while and I did wash it about once a month. Lasted about a year. Just got a new one a few months ago that I haven't used yet. Hoses are advertised as washable because vendors don't make the distinction. Mushrat and others have made this distinction to help others understand that just because it's washable doesn't mean and won't rust, and just because it may rust doesn't mean it's necessarily nonwashable. Only Rustproof hoses I know of are Nammor, Razan, Narbish, Roka, Scalliwag Washable, H-S Washable, AF Healthy Hose. There are a few on eBay that maybe rustproof, just haven't got my hands on them to verify. To Respecify: Non-washable - Hose will immediately fall apart or start deteriorating on the first wash. Metal Coil is often completely exposed. Washable - Hoses can be washed, but are not necessarily rustproof, washing should be sparingly. Metal coil could be wrapped in some kind of casing or coating. I think they've started using a stainless coil maybe?
Codename067
No whole-sale joint is ever fooled. Those guys know what they are getting and they will try to push their product as if they do not know that its a fake, or whatever. Never wash your hoses folks, unless there is no coil on the inside. ih303
That's good advice. I'm seriously considering switching to leather hoses that wouldn't get washed at all. It's a pain to wash our hoses after every use like we do currently, and even more of a pain to remove ghosting all together. I think the way Eric does it where he has a bunch of leather hoses all matched to certain flavor groups sounds like the best method.

They have... lets say 40 hookahs and 10 flavors. They have 4 hookahs for every flavor with their own hoses so they dont have to clean the hoses for ghosting. Thats the best solution, just like Eric's lounge.
