Refrigerating/freezing shisha is not a good idea.

Esplain yoself......I used to do this when i was a hookah noob, til someone told me it wasnt good for it but they gave no reasoning.
I dont do it anymore because frankly i dont see the point but i am curious to find out why its so taboo.

Not trying to thread jack here, i think it qualifies as related info and im sure the op would like to know also.

Supposedly refrigerating/freezing can mess with the humidity levels in the packaging and kill the flavor..but I have no particular facts showing this as I've never refrigerated my shisha..

when i first started buying my own shisha i would put it in the fridge. now that i know what im doing i realize that leaving shisha in the fridge made it dry out really bad. A 50g of nahkla would be really dry and practically unsmokable after 2 weeks in the fridge

As many others have said, refrigerating/freezing your shisha will dry it out. However there is the rare instance where it will help a flavor as with Smiley's shisha way way way back in the day. For 99% of the brands out there I wouldn't do it though.

I leave mine in there tubs in my room. I dont see the point of putting shisha in the fridge. My friend did it, and when I packed a bowl it was harder as the juices where more solid making crumbling harder.

Here's the reasoning.

Refrigeration and Freezing is a damaging process.

First the cold causes oils, juices and other liquids to separate from anything. That's why coffee beans left in the fridge taste like cow dung.

The temp will pull everything out of the shisha. If you mix it really well it should solve the taste issue, but you have cut the longevity significantly.

Taking something from Room Temp to Low Temp to Cooking Temp... is not going to be the best as Room Temp to Cooking Temp would be.

Also, the freezing process is a crystallization process. The slower the freezing occurs, the larger the crystals, and the more it damages the material. This is why if you try freezing, say, fresh strawberries at home, they'll taste like ass once thawed, but commercially purchased frozen berries (which they flash freeze rapidly and much lower temperatures than are available in the average home fridge) will taste more palettable once thawed. The same would apply to shisha.

I see a ghost

When I'm home over winter breaks, I sometimes leave my tangiers in the car out of laziness. When I pack a bowl of this "frozen shisha", it tends to be more robust in flavor...thats my experience

I never refrigerate my shisha, honestly the thought never occurred to me. I just keep it in air tight containers, such as a bag or gladware container.

wouldn't in the car acclimate it to the new environment, despite the absolute temperature? I know that sometimes I drive to other cities in Texas with varying humidity levels and leave my tobacco in the car and it smokes just fine.
