I just saw this article, and the lady in it sounds like a bitch. What do you think?

Second, this lady is on crack. This might bring more attention to her shop if anything..

I agree. Plus she should be glad a hookah bar wants to open up right next to her business. Who knows, she might actually get some new clients. I look at the whole thing as a poetntial gold mine. But then again, she probably owns some old lady store that has creepy, humanoid figurines that old women put in glass cages because they think they look "quaint". I could be wrong though. What we really need is City Ordinances prohibiting Awareness Stores. Whatever that is. Doesn't seem like somebody is trying to draw attention to their own lame, crappy store front, does it?

On a serious note, it sounds like somebody enjoys not being "aware" of anything "different" or new to her world. People who think or act like that really sadden me. I wish the world didn't have so many people like that in it. I promised myself that when I get "old" I will vow to never get like that.

I already emailed her outlining the various faults in her argument and the greatest contradiction of all where most wicca teaches "live and let live" she is obviously not living by that rule.

I also mentioned that her website uses unsubstantiated claims and can be legally challenged.

Your move crazy lady.

wow, i don't get how one business owner could get so f*ing butt hurt over another person wanting to do what there doing. The people opening the bar know of all the risks and will take plenty precautions to stop the smoke and middle-school kids from coming in. Its apart of the good ol' american dream to start your own business...you'd think a beezy like that would understand about opening your own business, no matter what kind it is. What kind of legal action can she take? it sounds like they have already been approved to build their bar..what could she do..?

I feel sad for her, truly. She obviously is a woman who has anger issues?

"Did you have a dad that was never there for you?"

"Did he smoke?"

"Does the thought of smoke, remind you of him?"

"Who are you really angry at?"

"Here's a bottle of tequila and a 1 way ticket to France."

I hate people like this. She's focusing her efforts at the wrong place. What about all the fast food restaurants around? Fast food contributes to obesity in children and obesity is scientifically proven to be a top killer in the united states. Hookah on the other hand...You see my point :)

Lol reminds me of something.

One time I was buying a coil burner at walgreens, the lady asked what it was for and so I told her. Which she seemed to be cool with at first until she started making a falsely polite rant about smoking, how it's bad for you, and how it kills. So she was basically trying to bitch at me while smiling (you know the type). Well I saw a McDonalds bag beside her (plus she was a bit heavy) and decided to make an example that talked about the other unhealthy things people do like chowing down on fast food constantly. All while being nothing less than polite. Shut her up really quick lol.

By the way, crazy lady mentioned in the articles awareness shop deals in Wicca as well as light and moderate flavors of such. (I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this) BUT I'm sure many parents in the community would prefer there not be a 'shop' dealing with 'occult' tinted ideals....and one without an age limit too. Hmmmmm interesting no?

Did anyone read the issues on that stopthehookah site? We should ask her where her sources are. And she claims "it'll be a hangout for dealers and they'll put nht in the hookahs" Another ignorant person.

I read through her site. It's basically just a textbook single-minded alertist. Have you ever heard of Jack Thompson, the infamous Florida lawyer who led a crusade for years, suing videogame developers for corrupting society and fighting for severe censorship in games using falsified statistics, extremely prejudiced alertist claims and accusations, and basically condemning the industry for profiteering off of mind-washing children?

Yeah, he got disbarred.

This bitch is the same way. She's making ignorant claims and embellishing any possible concerns about the business to a fanatical extent. Middle-schoolers aren't getting in, they won't be peddling drugs... I mean, why would someone act so cruelly and dishonestly? Just to make a point? To say she "got her way?" Because she has some uncompromising grudge with the collective concept of "smoking?" Reminds me of Hitler's motivations and techniques (propaganda). She must feel so noble...

the front page of that site says they are building a hookah and oxygen bar...which sounds like a really bad idea. i feel like oxygen bars are suppose to be incredibly safe, with no sources of fire allowed.

lol i kept reading and found this statement:
SAFETY DEMANDS THAT SMOKING SHOULD BE STRICTLY FORBIDDEN WHERE OXYGEN IS IN USE - yet the Village Planning Board have actually granted a Special Use Permit for an Oxygen Bar & Hookah Lounge. Add to this the fact that the building for which the permit was approved uses PROPANE heating fueled by a 500 GALLON ABOVE-GROUND TANK. These three elements (Propane, Oxygen and a source of ignition) are all that is required to power a rocket motor or disaster of truly epic proportions!

this is what they should fight, because it is a more reasonable argument...

Some people want there to be only one voice...theirs...then they think they'll have won their argument...Faux (Fox) News comes to mind.

Oxygen bars always struck me as relatively dumb in the first place. Read the health effects from breathing in elevated concentrations of oxygen

I'm of the opinion that hookah bars should be decorated like a tavern or a bar from the outside...lacking windows so children can't see what's going on inside. I'm in the minority, I'm sure. We keep children from seeing alcohol-consumers...why shouldn't we protect them from seeing smokers?

My roomate's Fiancee goes to some sort of Christian College and sje's cool but all her friends aren't about smoking hookah. I asked them why and they kinda all described me that the type of people who smoke hookahs are the types of people who wear their giant baggy sweatshirts with hoods up in the middle of the day starring at the ground while they walk. The point is that some people just truly believe in that kind of shit.

There is an "awareness" store in San Luis Obispo and absolutely no one goes into it. Perhaps she needs this?

There's always a crazy lady to viciously oppose some random thing that is even remotely unhealthy. They always make up a ton of reasons using facts, or statements out of context twisted to support their point. It's what makes America great.

Has anyone noticed how people like that are almost always especially ugly?
