I found that Texas Hookah is having a massive online sale for their Afzal shisha. $5 for 250g to be exact. I got a full kilo of assorted flavors. I haven't tried it before so I checked out the reviews sections and I picked out the flavors that got the highest ratings. I had this page bookmarked with all of the discounts and didn't find it so I assumed there wasn't one. But yeah I thought it'd be nice to try something new. Which flavors did you get? Aniseed was very weak and Bombay Pan Masala (also somewhat weak) tasted like licking an incense stick (and not in a good Tangiers Kashmir kinda way). From TexasHookah almost bought a small base for my Mini Mya, and that's it... shipping $12.75. Good Deal on the Afzal, and I love to support my Texas Brothers, but it's going to be a bit before I make an order, might with the Afzal so cheap, come out even with shipping! Nothing bothers me more then companies making waaay more than they should on shipping. Their usps priority mail option USED to be very reasonable, but not anymore I guess. And I am in MA they are in TX, that isn't THAT far. I sell stuff on eBay so I know how it is, but cover your materials + packaging, and make a buck or two for your time to package the box. [/quote] ya i just checked their shipping calculator for 8x250g of afzal and they wanted $42 for shipping. i know i can get USPS international flat rate for $35 and be able to ship 24x250g. they want $73.75 shipping for 24 boxes. no thanks. NOT to give people everything they want and make "a few bucks" for their trouble. This isn't ebay, this is how people make their livings. You don't like the shipping, then don't order from them, but don't even think you all know know what does on behind the scenes. You all forget overhead, wages, materials, time, and yea,,,,profit. If y'all think you can do better....feel free to. But remember, you may save a few bucks going to a big name web site, but it's the little guys that support THIS forum. You have a problem with Texas Hookah, you know where to find them. Same with HJ, Hookah Kings, and the rest. Other sites...good luck getting the same answer twice. That being said, Texas may want to examine their shipping prices to see if they can make a change that can be made up for in other places. Liken not having big sales on Afzal. mattarios2 Posted February 4, 2010 Share Posted February 4, 2010 Even better, I called them (wasn't the usual guy that answers, was a diff guy) and i asked about the shipping, I said I only want 2 boxes of tobacco that totals to 10 bucks, and you want 15 for shipping, any chance you can throw them both in a 8x8x8 box OR a small flat rate if it fits (which i dont think it would b/c the afzal boxes are square cubes so putting them in a 8x8x8 that is FREE from usps would cost about 6 to ship so charge me 8.) And the guy said, "I am working, I can't help you" and that was it. [/quote] mush, i know exactly how to run an online business. i did it for quite a few years (approximately 98% of my clients were from america) and i would say i was quite successfull (averaging $1500-2000 in profits per week) until i got shut down due to some legalities (if you remember when directv was shutting down lots of retailers that were selling card programmers). i never charged a client double for shipping because thats just ridiculous! edit: back when there was no such thing as flat rate shipping i was charging US clients $20 flat rate when my actual shipping fee was about $18 for xpresspost (equivalent to usps international priority). even when they ordered many items and the shipping would cost me $25-28 i would not charge them extra just to keep them happy. i got craploads of referral customers this way. [/quote] So ebay stores aren't in existence to make a living? I run 1 and soon 2 ebay stores ... for a living. Charging an extra 10 bucks is not legit for shipping, whether you are a small or large company. 10 bucks is not acceptable. If you were packaging something large and tough to package, fair enough. Dropping 2 boxes of shisha in a box, and putting tape on it, not acceptable. I have no problem buying from small retail companies to support them, but hitting us hard with shipping is not fair. And I did find them, and contacted them, and I got the cold shoulder. I have not forgotten overhead. [/quote] i was looking through their vendor thread and saw that someone asked them why their shipping prices are so high (they compared shipping 5 hoses between hookah-shisha and texashookah with the same shipping method) and they also never got a reply. I would pay a higher price for the same product, if shipping was lower? Just out of principle. Nothing is more annoying than seeing a great price for a product, then getting overcharged for shipping. Why try and make profits on shipping? Charge a bit more to cover boxes/packing materials, but don't double the shipping charge just because you want to make an extra $10 on every order.
