Amn_sinclair
alright so ive been trying to do some research checking out the forums and stuff and lately i havent been able to find anything thats not 2 or 3 years old so im not sure if maybe something has changed. alright my point is... ive been reading that ps3s are region free and that as long as your tv supports pal and ntsc you will be able to play any ps3 game on your ps3. and i havent had the chance to test this but everytime i look at a german ps3 game it says region 2 on it. so has anyone tried this and know if they are infact region free and can play both formats? this is just for games not dvds
Chreees
Ok, any PS3 game will play on your PS3. As for DVDs and Blu-rays, no, it must be the region format from wherever you bought your PS3... So say you bought your PS3 in the states, you can play all the German games on it you want. German DVDs and Blu-rays will NOT play on your PS3, however. [/quote] ok in regards to blu ray movies though none of them have region codes on them german or american ones. and everything ive read said they should work to. i havent tested this either. but essential games are on blu ray discs as well so if my american ps3 can read a pal game disc shouldnt it be able to read a pal blu ray as well
Chreees
Yeah, I may be wrong on the Blu-rays... They may all work on your system. I say try it out. For the games I know I'm right...
phantastik
Yea, it should work without a problem. I bought my ps3 back in '07 so its pretty old, but i play my euro version of singstar all the time and it works flawlessly.

newjacksm
Pretty sure Blu-Rays have region codes. Region A, B, C Dvd's have different Region system, but same idea. (Sorry if this didn't answer your question I just read the first post.) Edited February 7, 2010 by newjacksm
