So as a conclusion: You can smoke every tobacco touching the foil, but you have to consider if you pack it loosely or densely, depending on its wetness. Would you say that by your own experiences tobacco touching the foil positively impacts the intensity of the flavour?

i'd say, not really. eventually, when the bowl heats through...you should get the same results...touching the foil or not.

AF and SB i very slightly pack them in my phunnel and the shisha does not touch the foil, i find its a lot easier to manage the heat this way and still smokes perfect. for JM i pack it a bit more since it can take heat like a champ.

nakhla gets packed hard although one thing that should be noted is when you pack it down and put the coals on your bowl, the tobacco will expand slightly and then therefore might touch the foil. with nakhla this is okay in my opinion because it can take the heat. mizo grape imo is a tobacoo that cant touch the foil because of its wetness or else it will taste like dirt

And its correct...the juicier a tobacco is, the looser it should be packed.

Loose, but still in contact with the foil? Would you say that? :)

Lol... We're just confusing you now.

When it comes to the forum, you will never have a shortage of advice. You just have to read the thread, see what makes the most sense to you, then start experimenting. I think it's safe to say that's the way most of the folks on this forum came to know what they know. Good luck! :)

With Washed Tobacco, I like to leave a tiny bit of gap between the foil and the flavor, but with non-washed, I don't see a problem.

x2, the only exception I have is tangiers in a phunnel.
