I was at a buddies house smoking, i brought my phunnel and some shisha with me. He packed the phunnel with some peach and we started to smoke. After the first hour i wanted to try a different flavor, but he wasnt ready to give up the bowl yet. So i figured why not, ill pack some mizo into and egyptian bowl. That got me thinking, man i really like my phunnel bowl... So just curious on how often u guys use egyptian's, for me its basically if my phunnel broke

I smoke a lot of Nahkla, so I use the egyptian for that. I have a small Phunnel bowl, but I lost patience with it. One day I'll pick it up again, until then, it's all about that egyptian.

We all know how you feel about the Egyptian bowls twoapples, haha.

But I use my Phunnel more, just because its easy to pack and the pull is always really easy. I really enjoy my Egyptian bowl, but I need more practice to get the packing down right.

I still think Nakhla smokes better in an Egyptian, and I smoke Herbal, Romman, and drier tobaccos in it. I need to get another Hemi bowl. Smoking a lot of Nakhla lately and It's a pain having to clean out the bowl before reloading it in the same night.

i exclusively use phunnels. I use both tangiers phunnels and the MNH mini glass phunnel. Still really want to try santino's glass bowls, but don't have the funds. The only reason i keep my egyptian style bowls around is incase i ever decide to sell any more hookahs it might be nice to include a bowl. I used to keep them around to let people borrow them, but then i learned really fast that people suck at returning things so I quit doing that.

I love my Egyptian! So simple, so so cheap, and still very effective! Actually when i want to save shisha or its just me smoking a quick bowl i always pull out my Egyptian.

I have this shallow egyptian that i pack with about 15-20g of shisha, toss a Insta CH Coal (New recipe rocks btw) and puff away for a solid 30 min.

If im looking to smoke for about an hour or more, then i pack a small or mini funnel. If im going for a marathon World of Warcraft raiding Smoke - then i load a large phunnel full of what seems like 80g of tangiers and proceed to smoke for 5+ hours.

ps: I have a santos bowl, custom made that smokes better than my egyptian hands down! But its my Chicago Cubbies bowl, and i only smoke that bowl while watching a game on the TV.

that seems to be a pretty common, nak for egypt and tang for phunnel. It goes the same for all bowls i think, gotta pack it right and heat manage and you can really get some good sessions out of it, no matter what you use

Egyptian bowls are classics. A true hookah smoker should always have a few laying around, and even use them on and off through out the week.

I enjoy the Egyptian bowls a lot, especially for Nakhla flavors, and Saalaam Herbal, and I use it often for my solo sessions!

But when there are 3+ people, the Phunnel get all the loving.

Occasionally I use my phunnel bowl, but the best smokes come from a nice deep Egyptian bowl in my humble opinion (this includes tangiers).

I also smoke Tangiers out of my Egyptians as much if not more than phunnels. Works just fine. And of course Egyptians are the standard for Nakhla, etc.

Rani, how do you pack your Egyptian with Tangiers?

dense around the perimeter and a lighter pack over the holes?

Kind of, but strange as it might sound I've had really good sessions by packing it following the line of the bowl and then depressing the foil slightly. By that I mean almost like when cooking and making cheesecake and you smooth the crust the same thickness across the bottom and sides of the pan? Yeah, I know, if you don't cook doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense but it's the best way I can explain it........ I have this one Egyptian bowl that's wider and flatter than most and with the depressed foil it's almost like the coal is somewhat inside the bowl suspended on the foil and an equal distance from all the tobacco. Works like a charm.

is the tobacco the same density throughout the bowl? how dense is it?

i actually like the concept...i'm just trying to pick up the details to mimic it.

Tight, packed down hard, as close to being like it was in the bag as possible. I have a small domed empty salt shaker that I use to press it into place. I suppose you could form it with the back of a spoon, I just happened to use the salt shaker and because it's applying pressure evenly all over there's no slipping over "there" when your pressing it down over "here" along the insides of the bowl.

i gotta imagine the draw is really restricted....is there something you do to make it pull easier?
[/quote]

Ooops!..... I didn't think about mention poking through the holes in the bowl to avoid restriction. Sorry, I thought we kinda all did that almost automatically.....
