Few Quick Questions

Recommended Posts

I wanted to post a few questions that i'm sure have already been answered. I figured asking them all in one bunch would be easier on me, and it would give me a chance to get to know some of you guys, because i'm new to your forum. So i'm not new to smoking hookah, but i am new to smoking hookah the right way. Before coming here i didn't know about phunnel bowls or heat distribution, i've kind of been just doing whatever smokes right.

Right now I own a cheap no name 13 or 15 inch and it's worked well for me but ive always known I was going to get something bigger and nicer in the end. So here are a few of the questions I have.

1.) I want a KM, I use them a lot at a hookah bar I go to, but i'm not sure which one to get. Is there even a big difference between the many models or is it just the looks of each that are the big difference?

2.) I smoke starbuzz, a few of the golden layalinas, and a few of the fantasias. But I'm hearing a lot about Fakala (sorry if my spelling is wrong throughout this, i just didnt want to go back and forth from your posts to mine and get the right spelling), and a lot about Tangiers. I know there are tons of 'Whats your favorite....." threads but I just wanted to know some basic differences from the many brands out there.

Thanks a lot for helping me out. I'm sorry if it was annoying to hear the same questions again.

The majority of KMs are relatively the same in terms of smoking. The looks are what set them all apart.
Tangiers is my personaly favorite brand however it is tricky to get the technique and heat mgmt down pat for it. I think the flavors are spot on compared to most of the other brands out there.
If you want the KM afficionado - talk to codename_67.

With the KMs, it pretty much comes down to which one you like the best, I've smoked out of a couple different models and they all smoke good. I think you meant Nakhla, and that is a pretty good brand and hard to mess up. It is unwashed so it will probably have a buzz for you. Nakhla's mizo line is also really good. Tangiers is good, but OG line can be tricky to some people. Tangiers has a washed line, Lucid that is really easy to get smoke. I'd try out some mizo and lucid tangiers

What ryno said...

Nakhla Mizo flavors are super flavorful, deliver a nice relaxing buzz, and Nakhla is extremely easy to pack and it can take a lot of heat so its tough to mess up. Not real finicky like some brands. The Mizo line is just sooo tasty its like you are actually eating the flavor.

Thanks, I heard the lucid doesn't give a nice strong buzz. I'm up to the challenge of the Tangiers, I was reading that it's hard to get down, but there are enough how-to's in this forum alone to be able to get a good start at it. Thanks a lot for posting, i'm sure once a week someone gets on here and asks those same questions.

I'd say for a KM it's mostly about looks and what you want the pipe to look like. All that I've smoked from/own are very similar in terms of smokeability, cleaning, etc. If you're referring to Nakhla, it's a great, cheaper, easy to smoke shisha that's been around a long time. I'd say overall the Mizo line is a little more sweet, flavorful. The normal line is great and has some great flavors, but some can be weaker than others. The mizo line is more similar to something like Al Fakher as far as juiciness, cut, flavor, etc. I'd say Tangiers and Nakhla are my favorite shishas. Tangiers may seem a litle daunting to try for a newer smoker, but like was stated the flavors are very spot on and delicious. It's also a good smoke if you like something less "candy" like and more natural. There are a lot of tutorials, info and members to answer your question about it if you decide to try it, which I'd highly suggest doing.

I've noticed some AF flavors taste licorice-y, is that because of the molasses in it? If so is that what you mean by Nakhla tasting like AF?

somethin like that...its mostly with apple or DA...of most brands anyway. im not a real big fan of it...thats partly why tangiers is so delicious. i think esk apple is really the only apple ive tried that doesnt taste licoricey

Any KM will do, although Trimetals are very popular in the forum. I, on the other hand, prefer double pears; I think they look a lot nicer, but I also own I trimetal and use it often. It smokes great. As for the tobacco, I would recommend you get yourself some tangiers lucid to start, and then move to og tangiers and nak.

Dont be intimidated :) I nailed og tangiers on my very first attempt and it made me scratching my head like "what was the fuss all about?" Just don't get wrapped up with the technicalities. I acclimated for 5 hours, packed the shit out of the bowl, 3 halves of cocos and it worked perfect! I honestly think people put too much effort into it haha
