Hose Inner Diameter

For a majority of people, it seems that a wide guaged hose is preferably. And I've read on numerous threads where people exclaim "The pull on the hose is effortless! It's the best!" or something similar. However, is there a point where you get into diminishing returns?

I mean, nothing as obvious as a 12in ID, but it seems a 1/2in ID is huge. What if we go 3/4in? Or even 2in? When does the pull become too loose to be any good?
