thatonethere
I just bought a Mya QT, and the bowl that came with it is glazed on the outside, but not on the inside. After the test smoke, I proceeded to clean the hookah and I find the bowl is really hard to clean. The shisha left gross stains behind, that couldn't be scrubbed off like my other glazed bowls. My question is , is there a way to get all of the stains out of the unglazed inside of my bowl? It could be my imagination, but I think the unglazed part allows the previous shisha flavour to stick to the bowl, therfor changing the current flavor I'm smoking. Maybe I'm too anal about that sort of thing, but the stains look gross, and I don't want to taste a bunch of shisha flavours unless they belong to the mixed bowl I just packed. Thanks in advance. Brandon`
I got the same bowl your talking about, It's a Mya Standard bowl. It really stains to red dyes badly, however it doesn't hold the flavor it just effects the color inside the bowl. I'm not sure if you can clean it, I just leave it as it is, Never got effected flavor or anything.

Maybe it's my imagination, but I smoked some Nak Vanilla out of it, and I could still taste it after I cleaned it and loaded some Mizo watermelon+mint. I'll probably smoke out of that bowl again to see if any more flavours have been added to it.
liquidglass
I used a completely unglazed bowl for quite a while when I first started, and I think it's a slight combo of hose and bowl.....strong flavors WILL stick around b/c of the combo. Even if it's not perm. It'll stick more than a glazed.
mushrat
Likely the Vanilla taste was in your HOSE not the bowl? Do not use soap on an unglazed bowl btw. I use water and a scrubbie to clean the Mya bowls we use at the lounge. I have never noticed a ghost flavour with the bowl. It's a tobacco bowl, its going to get black and stained. There's no getting around the staining. Even glazed bowls stain to an extent. And if staining affects flavor, I've never noticed it. Suggestion, get a new bowl. Out of all the bowls I've smoked, Mya bowls are the worst. Wait... no... the stainless steel bowls that are 1/4" deep are worse. Oh, and those multi-headed, gimmick bowls. My point is, it's not a good bowl. The holes are way too small, IMO, to allow for any kind of decent airflow. Do your lungs a favor and get a phunnel or an egyptian. You'll thank yourself later. PSU Smoker
Ill second that...we smoked out of an unglazed bowl all last year and never had any flavor problems because of it. The stains do stay and look nasty but thats not really a big issue since you are just going to put more shisha in it and cover it with foil
thatonethere
I was thinking of getting a new bowl myself. I've seen a Mya that was glazed on the inside on the hookaset.com website. I think that's going to be my best bet. Hopefully I can find one that matches my Mya. I already have several bowls (1 mya, 2 egyptians and a small tangiers funnel). I should really practice packing that funnel bowl. I've used it a couple of times and got frustrated with getting the packing method down. Also, I'll avoid using soap to clean it from now on. Maybe that was the problem all along. In the mean time, I'll use a different hose so so it can air out. Then I'll try again. Thanks guys!

Stuie
I have a bunch of mya bowls, honestly never used them. Always afraid of ghosting... they are on my review list... so I will get to them soon enough.
Arcane
as some people have stated above...the ghosted flavor was most likely because of your hose and the hookah itself.
Venger
I have three bowls. The one that came with my mya , a modern bowl with windscreen combo, and a vortex. I use all three depending on the tobacco. vortex for wetter like AF ,mya for blends of AF and Nak, and the mod with windscreen gets the nak. all clean up pretty well with a green scrubby.
