Coal Covers

just curious on how many people in this forum use the wind covers i see them alot on the pics on hf

why does everyone (well 50% of ppl as of now) use wind covers? does it lead to a better smoke session?

Not a necessity at all. Does not hurt to use one though.

I personally got one, but I only use it when I use the hookah in a windy place.

Def. a great tool for keeping heat esp. when the coals are getting low. I use mine (the taj) a lot just because I primarily smoke outside.

that's one accessory i never got into, i'm like codename, only when it's windy, but you guys make me want to try one out for heat management.

all the time, but i am a 98% nakhla smoker, so it doesnt mind that extra heat.

I use mine all the time. It really helps get bowls going faster than without it - especially NK bowls that require a bit more heat. Like mentioned previously, it also helps when your coals start to die down and your smoke starts to thin. A lot of times, I'll only have time to smoke through one set of coals and my wind cover makes it smoke strong even with little nubbins of coal.

I use mine when outside or when the coals are dying down. I got that big ass one from hookah john. Only one I have found to fit on a KM over a Tangiers phunnel. Without modification of course.

I don't use one, but I've also never tried them. I haven't had an opportunity to smoke outside because it's winter in MN. COLD AS SHIT!

Ay! A fellow Minnesotan! Yeah, try smoking outside in this weather. Although today is pretty nice; 24 and sunny!

I always use a foil one I do have a proper one but I find it really hard to use for heat management, it usually makes it too hot, although I got mine in anticipation of summer when im outside.

I use a windcover usually when I start a bowl or whenever I'm smoking outside.

When I first started smoking hookah, I thought it wasn't necessary. And although it is not essential, I use one to start the bowl. Then I remove it once the bowl is going, and put it back on again when coals start to die. I have found that it helps make bigger clouds when coals are near the end.

I use one outside always, inside I don't, except for when coals are dying and I wanna milk some extra life out of them...

how much longer does it make the bowl last do you think?

when I use my mod bowl with built in wind cover I can get a 33mm 3 kings to last 35 mins and you only need one coal.

It doesn't elongate the session, just regulates the heat more precisely.

I use them when I get into a serious session and feel like optimizing my cloudage. Usually not if I'm just puffing away for a half hour or so.

edit - I suppose you could get a TINY bit more out of dieing coals...I've done it before. Nothing crazy substantial though.

I use one mainly to get a bowl started, and since I smoke outside no matter what, I always have the windcover handy just in case.

Sometimes when i need a little more heat and always when im outside. I just use a tin can with the top and bottom removed with a can opener.
