Why Are Small Tangiers Phunnels So Small?

Recommended Posts

Well I'm sure most of you know what happend to my first Tangiers Phunnel, It was a small I got like 7 or so months back and I recently purchased another one and its so much smaller.. The last one was perfect... This one makes me angry. My last one was such a perfect size, it fit 3 coco's on it perfectly never got harsh or anything was PERFECT, since this one is small it needs 2 and 1 flipped on a side and it gets so annoying because the dam coal falls every 30 secs. 2 Coals isnt enough and 3 makes it harsh as hell... Its not that bad but it gets annoying to flip 1 coal and every step you take or when I look back at the hookah it fell over and is harsh. Anyone else have this problem? 3 was ALWAYS perfect on my old small...

Haven't really seen anything about this, but I've had the same phunnel for almost 3 years. Maybe you could just cut one coco in half, then just use 2 whole cocos and the half instead of playing the balancing act. May be less frustrating and worth a try at least. The only other advice I could give you is I know the CH QL coals will stand on their side for quite a while. I was using 2 on their side with a very small bowl I had, it worked great and they never fell over.

im assuming you made sure to get a legit phunnel.. cause knock off tangiers all vary in size. Hookahjohn carries a bunch of legit ones, i usually only buy from him. Otherwise, break the coals and spread them all around the bowl on each edge (using halves)... and its probably harsh cause your overheating it (tiny bowl + 3 coals= way too much burning shisha).

i have been witness to this trend of smalls getting smaller. personally, i like it.

i know eric is big on making sure everything is at an optimal proportion when it comes to phunnel designs but i say, get it as small as possible while keeping all the proportions working and the quality regular.

Weird. My first black one, I ordered it a year ago, was a nice size and it broke so I ordered another. Its a little wider and a little more shallow. They're hand made, so I don't thing you can expect it to be consistent

I think you have that backwards. Because Tangiers phunnels are handmade, they will vary in size. As far as I know all knockoff funnels, except Caravan and glass funnels (obviously), are machine made, and they should be consistent sizes.

Wow I completly forgot about my windcover. Maybe i'll try 2 and a windcover. I'm 100% it's a legit Tangiers Phunnel because there the only ones that have this shade of Turkish Brown and Blue.
