Glitter Vases Suck...

Recommended Posts

Walt, you were right man...

So I go to wash it today and of course when you're putting water in it to wash it out water's gonna get on the outside... I was using water that was neither hot nor cold, it was in between, like I always do. This water gets on the outside of the vase and the red paint literally washes off. I'm like, wtf. I was so angry I said fuck it and rub my hand over the vase and what you see in the after pic is the result. I'm so pissed. I'm probably going to go back and really scrub hard and get the silver stuff off as well and just have a clear vase. But I'm going to be looking for another red vase of some sort so I can regain my black/red theme. I guess atleast now I won't have red paint flecks all over my hand after touching my vase everytime...

Sorry to hear/see this Chris, it did looks pretty sweet all together with the color scheme. Maybe since you'll have a clear base now you can design your own and hopefully the color/design will actually stick (assuming you don't use watercolor paint as it looks like that's what was used...)

Sounds like it should be a great combo and match the stem/hose even better than the red glitter one did. As for how to actually customize the base, I'm not sure at all, not very creatively inclined. But, I'd say check out Michaels or another type of craft store and ask them what a good "waterproof" type paint would be. I'd imagine maybe like an oil-based paint for models (cars, planes, etc) would work.

Yeah, that's what Walt (foibledagain) said... Michaels. I just can't remember what paint he said to get, lol. I definitely want to fully plan this out so I don't screw it up.

I have no idea what kind of design I'd do, lol. And I usually suck at painting and stuff.

Wow man, that seriously blows. Really sorry to hear that. I would say get that damn glitter glue off of there and really make it your own. I know that Rusto makes a frosted glass spray that you could use to make the vase look cool if you just combo with some painters tape. I would say go with a red or smoke colored spray that is made for glass and layer over with the frost in a pattern... just an idea. Good luck! I like it man! Not sure I could paint all the swirlies and stuff and it look good... Right now I'm thinking I could paint a symbol on each side of the vase and incorporate black and red solid bands above and below them and also on the neck of the vase. Something simple, yet nice, where I can still see the smoke well and everything. Now, I just need to know what paint would be best....

What'd you do?

I curled into the fetal position in the corner of a dark room and died.

Same thing happened to one of my vases that I got with my syrian.
At first, I thought I was bleeding. Then I realized that it was just rubbing off. Sorry man.

Haha, that happened to me too! I picked it up from UPS on my way to work and when I got parked I opened and checked it out... Went inside and noticed red shit on my hands... I'm like, wtf? The girl I was relieving said, "You bleeding?" Lol...

Artists supply store,
Glass paint,
Sealer,
Done.

The problem with most of these vases is that they aren't using glass paint and they certainly aren't sealing them. So it comes off - even from the KM vases. Do it right yourself and no worries.

I would have complained to the vendor that sold it to me.

...I think it looks sweet with the clear and glitter

...I also like the above design drawn

I sent the vendor an email about it. I spent about 30 minutes completely stripping the vase of everything, so now it's clear.
