PSU Smoker
Ok so im acclimating my Tangiers Clove now but im a little sick. It has been acclimating in its tupaware container for ~5hours and then i got my hands on some saran wrap and it has been spread out on that for ~3.5 hours. I think it smells like clove but im not sure if I can still smell a soy sauce like smell or not since my nose is all stopped up. Should I just leave it out for a few more hours? I wont be able to smoke it until I go home for the weekend, and Ill prob end up acclimating it at home for another 30min-hour as well. As far as heat management for when I smoke it...I will be using a standard Egyptian bowl that came with my KM. Jay already told me how I should pack it but what should I do for heat management (I'm really hoping not to goof up the first bowl). I have CH QLs...should I start with 1 and move to 2 or go 2 off the bat? also should I use whole coals or should I split em in half?
Allstar
I typically use two small coals every time I smoke tangiers. This is what the guys at the store told me to do when I bought it. I haven't had a problem with it.
Arcane
if it's the big KM, start with 2 halves on opposite edges...wait 2-3 minutes. if it's not smoking good, do 3 halves in a triangle pattern and then wait 2-3 minutes. keep adding halves every 2-3 minutes until you get your desired results. after all that hassle, buy a phunnel and take a trip on easy street

fillup
5 hours should be plenty of time to acclimate it. Just make sure you mix it around every hour or so this way its acclimated all the way through. Ive had times where I believed I have over acclimated it by leaving the container out all night and it caused the smoke to be harsh so your best bet is to cover it up and acclimate it when you get back home if needed.
