Can’t Get Starbuzz to Smoke Well

Recommended Posts

I ordered 3 250g tins from Social, and have tried two of the flavors, and neither is giving good smoke.  I get decent smoke after the coal heats up, but it's not that thick smoke that you can feel your mouth fill with.Setup: 32" Mya, about a teaspoon of shisha broken up, foil with random holes, one three-kings 40mm disk.Does starbuzz really need to be heated up to get good thick smoke?  Also the flavor isn't totally there.  They smell really good in the can so I want to figure out how to get this stuff to smoke good instead of just throwing it in the closet and not using it.Thanks!

Use more coals. start off with two, you may have to break one in half and take it off if it gets harsh on your throat. more heat will give you better smoke and flavor. Also try a bit more tobacco.remember to let your coals ash over gray completely before smoking with them.

I think you are fine on the coal front. I also use a single 40mm Three Kings, and it works fine. Here's what I do:Sprinkle the tobacco into the bowl until it fills to the top. Don't worry about teaspoons, tablespoons, a pinch of this or a wad of that. Just sprinkle it in. Once you get it up to the rim, LIGHTLY tap (don't pack) it down so that you get a nice flat surface, which is maybe just a hair below the top of the bowl. Put the foil over it tightly, and try the hole pattern on this page:http://www.hookahculture.com/hookah_setup_smoking.htmI have had great results with it. Anyway, get your coal going, and put it so that the outside of the coal is even with one of the edges of your bowl (not in the center). Take a few drags (space them out a bit) until you get some smoke (won't be much). Then, move the coal a quarter of the way around the outside of the bowl, and do the same. You should be getting more and more smoke as you go. By the time you have made it around the bowl, you should have the tobacco lit quite nicely, and you can leave the coal in one spot for a longer amount of time. I think the trick here it to be patient, and get the shisha lit evenly. I use this technique for all the tobacco I smoke (even Tangiers), and I never have any trouble at all. Good luck with your hookah!
