Do Ice Chambers Actually Work?

Recommended Posts

they hold ice...so, technically speaking...they are functioning properly. does the ice make a noticeable difference? i, personally, don't think so. but some people swear it does....

i think this goes along the lines of the juice/milk in the base type arguments....it's all subjective....

I used to have a chiller.............in my opinion it was just there for decoration.
Honestly it never made any difference to me.
I prefer my smoke on the warm side these days so i sold it a while back.

A slash of mil in the base always made a creamy smoke for me when i did it in my old hookah. However I wouldnt recommend it, a bit to much and milk bubbles galore --> milk in your stem and a pain in the ass to clean...not really worth the effort. A bit of topic but thought id throw my 2 cents in

My KM Signature Ice looks awesome! Much better than the plain sig. But the ice in the chiller has no effect that I can tell. Much better to put it in the base.

never noticed much of a difference with my Nour Chiller. what i did notice after about 15 minutes is that I i ended up with a top heavy hookah with a bucket of water on the top. :)

Only way I've had an ice chamber really work, is when using crushed ice with a bunch of salt on it. Other than that, ice in the base with cold water works alot better, and as mush said, you don't end up with a top heavy hookah with a bucket of water on top.

Lol... true true.

Not to mention, those things rust if you don't wipe them out after every use.

They tend to have little to no effect, and half the time you wont even notice anything different. But like above said, there are people who swear by them and i find it to be nice when i actually do notice a change from it.

using whole ice cubes = nothing in my experience, but when i used crush ice and added water 70% crushed ice 30% water it made a noticeable difference not much mind you but the smoke was cooler

I have 5 KMs with Chillers, and as I have said before, it does NOT work as it is advertised.

The Chiller does not cool smoke down. It only works in the summer to PREVENT the stem from getting warm, which then makes the smoke warm. Usually the best way is to put ice in the ice chamber and the base as well, in order to help keep the stem as cool as possible.

/End thread.

I have an add-on ice bucket. I fill it with salt water, and freeze the whole thing. It stays frozen for over an hour.

And I say this every time, vase/bucket is not either/or. Just because I use ice in the bucket doesn't mean i don't put any in the base.

I do this as well. I have a chamber I rigged to work with my 2-hose genie (essentially 8-12" tall). On such a small stem I do notice a difference; I do not notice much of a change on my larger hookah.
