thatonethere
A new hookah store is about to set up shop in town. I am wondering how I could convince them to start selling Nakhla,Tangiers, Ch Qls and Nats,Cocos, KMs, Myas and decent hookah componets. Most of the tobacco stores around me sell over priced Fantasia, Starbuzz, or really old Al Waha in the 50g containers, and the last thing I would like to see is another store selling the same stuff that other stores carry (plus since the location is so close to my home, I want to make sure they stay in business by giving them the chance to offer something that I will buy). Plus I think it's about time that somebody started a hookah shop in my town (hopefully they don't sell pieces of crap). I haven't been in the store as of yet, because all they had up was the sign so far. As soon as I find out what they have on hand, then I'll make my move (crosses fingers in hopes they don't sell a bunch of overpriced crap). fineout
go in and talk to them, tell them that theres better stuff out there they can get cheaper themselves and make the same amount of profit. and im pretty sure you can give them an email addy to contact either eric or john about the tangiers/ch coals. no longer welcome
any smart store owner will take anything you say seriously, so long as you present yourself well. in fact they would take your input more than mine. try and see.

[/quote] Yes, I have said this to the shop thats across the street from my apartment. They take everything I say seriously for some reason. I bring my KM in their regularly to pack a bowl of something I might have ordered online I know they have never seen/heard of/smoked before. In the end, they order me exactly what and stock the flavors I think would sell fast. It never hurts to speak up
delSol_si
ya, id say whatever you want them to carry, bring your hookah in and have them smoke a bowl with you, if smoking is allowed.
r1v3th3ad
Ya, I talked to a local shop about how great coconut coals are and they started carrying them... A lot of places will listen to an experienced customer.
Venger
I talk to my guy all the time. We swap flavors if we want something new to try or there is something I like I get him to try it. I asked him to carry Mizo, two weeks later great selection. Tangiers is next on my request list. Maybe I should order some online so he can taste test. thatonethere
Ok, here's the plan: I'll offer 2 bowls each of my favorite shishas, and enough coals for them to do a comparison between my shisha + their coals, and my shisha + my coals. That way, they can not only see what a difference the coals make, plus they can see what great smoke they've been missing out on. I hope this goes well. So far, they are still re-modeling the place, so I'll have to wait until they are all the way set up. In the mean time, wish me luck guys. I'm sorry to hear that, jeremyk. With that kind of attitude, I wouldn't be surprised if they failed, smh. Just because they have money doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. I knew of a business like that that made really bad food and charged an arm and a leg for it. People kept trying to tell them that their food sucked and the prices were horrible. Needless to say, they didn't last 1 year. Edited March 12, 2010 by thatonethere

thatonethere
Update: I just checked out the place and they have no idea what they are doing. The owner doesn't know much about hookah, and they sell crap. The owner's son smokes hookah, so I'll send some Nak samples his way. I'll also include the Nak website and a few other websites so they could get some good shisha in their inventory. They only have HH shisha and are getting Fantasia. I told the owner that a lot of the shops around here sell Fantasia, and the flavour doesn't last very long. It looks like I have some work to do. Hopefully they'll heed my advice . PSU Smoker
Yeah but the good news is hopefully he will take your word, or at least his son. With a little work you should be able to persuade him to carry everything else the other businesses dont carry. I mean what better way to make money than to sell the brands no one else does? hed have the market all to himself until the other shops get on board.
