ngraz617
I was looking at hoses and I have been smoking for years now and I have always liked KM hoses the best but I like the idea of a washable hose. Tonight after reading somewhere earlier today that to clean your KM or any non washable hose bang the handle against something from all angles and bang the hose and then let the hose hang and blow hard and any loose stuff will come out. So I figured I would give it a try since I never have and I have owned this particular hose a good year and a half. So I banged the hell out of it and let it hang and expected a little black powder maybe well the stuff that started coming out of this hose I never saw anything like it. There was so much black disgusting dirt and saliva and powder coming out I had to get a roll of paper towels to clean off my garage floor. I couldn't believe my eyes there were piles of this junk all over and then when I thought it was clean I would suck in and mouth loads of crap came out so I would blow and tons more of this stuff came out and after a good ten minutes I got it as good as I could. Now I saw no signs of rust but there was a lot of saliva and it got me thinking washable hoses are the way to go. I have three Nammor hoses one which is always on my small Mya but my two large KM's always have KM hoses on them. I like the Nammor Hoses a lot but I always said if KM made a washable hose that would be best. Well as I said I was looking at hoses on line and came across this hose. http://www.thehookah...hable-hose.html Now as you see by the name of the link it clearly states KM washable hose. When you read the write up on the hose they never mention the word washable. A review of the hose that someone wrote in it he says he washes it. I saw the same hose at Hookah-life.com and spoke to them and they were out of stock and said they were getting more in, it's the traditional large diameter hose and it is washable. It says nothing about removable tips but it does say acrylic. I just find it strange that with all the continuous talk on these forums about washable hoses this hose I never saw brought up. I am going to research it further and if in fact it is a washable KM hose I am going to buy one. After today regardless if this hose is for real or not I am going to use my Nammors much more often and keep on top of keeping my non washable hoses clean. ryno
Unless they changed something, that hose isnt washable. My friend had one and it rusted out not too long ago... I found out the hard way.
Stuie
I got one, and it's not washable or rust proof. Just like Ryno said.
thehelios
When you run water through your hose and hit it against hard stuff to get dirt out is terrible for non-washable hoses. What you're doing is adding to rust and releasing large chunks of rust out. When this happens, your hose is gone.

PSU Smoker
yeah even tho it says washable it will still rust. The coils are coated inside the hose but after a few washes they will become exposed and rust. I'd still imagine its better the leave the grime in there because it would help protect the coil from oxygen and moisture, slowing down the rusting process Edited March 15, 2010 by PSU Smoker
Codename067
That's the only down side when it comes down to KM hoses.
ngraz617
No I never ran water through it and always just blew through it to see if anything came out which was never anything to speak of. Just after reading that the way to keep a non washable hose clean did I beat the hose against something and cause all of the stuff to become loose and come out. I don't see how that can create rust because again I didn't use any water but it is working fine now and it's a good hose and it's not overly expensive to replace when the time comes and is in great shape but I feel better now that the dirt is out of there. I still think a washable hose is a good idea and this KM I show the link to I agree is probably not washable yet Hookah-life says it is and "The Hookah" link has the word washable in it. It is too bad because it's nice and would be great to have a KM washable hose. I think that the hoses on the market that are washable should be made without cloth decorative rings and sweat bands like Nammors have, I hate that when you wash them even using a funnel they get soaked and if you don't just blot them dry they get fuzzy. Aside from it being a good idea to keep your hoses off the hookah when not in use the only thing aside from humidity that can cause rust is saliva but blowing it out and hanging it when not in use is all you can do to prevent this from becoming a major contributor to it rusting. I hang it from the middle in a upside U shape so that any saliva that may have entered the hose doesn't have to travel the length of the hose and if it is there will come out the mouth piece. I have never seen much saliva come out of a hose if any without blowing it out after many uses and I'm sure the coils have some protective coating on them so that this would not cause rusting. agunn1231
I have only had two hoses rust. I was able to save one though. i went to a brewery store near by got PBW (a food grade sanitizer) and longthin brushes put a little bitof sanitizer on the brush and scrubbed the hell out of my hose. it tastes a little funky butigotall the rust out. normally i just use the thin brush without the sanitizer though

JOE
yup my KM rainbow rusted. I let it sit for a while, bent the hose in every possible way and blew it out with an air compressor, now its good to go.
