nars2k
I came across this "machine" made specifically for hookah, and hookah smokers. This is a quote directly from the manufacturers website. "We as people who enjoy a narghile, understand it's not just another nervous smoking habit, it's something special. Savoring a narghile pipe is a time to unwind and reflect and socialize with the people we love. We see it as a pleasure of living. And since it is a part of our lives, Tannous wants to make it even better... ...proudly introducing the Shishavac™, the world's first narghile preparation system and the ultimate companion for the narghile enthusiast. The Shishavac™ is the innovative, world-class appliance that every narghile aficionado loves to own. This designer, multi-tasking machine allows you to effortlessly start your pipe in seconds, burn charcoal neatly and safely and most importantly, effectively clean your narghile hose, which means a cleaner, healthier, more fulfilling smoke. The Shishavac™ conveniently integrates all these functions into a user-friendly, instrumental household appliance. Refining a centuries-old cultural tradition, the Shishavac™ is a revolution. It is the world's first narghile preparation system, bringing enthusiasts a classy tool to prepare a higher quality smoke and forever enhance the pleasure of a narghile." http://www.shishavac.com/home/ Here is a video demonstrating how it works and what it does http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-LsMYUWrEQ I think its actually a pretty cool idea, would be great if it was priced better though. rhineholt
Yeah there was a thread a while back. I don't think it's worth it... But if I had enough money, I'd still get one.

PSU Smoker
def a cool idea but i wouldnt pay the 250 for it. Looks like you could strech out the longevity of non washable hoses but itd be much cheaper to get washable ones or replace them every year for like 20 bucks
thatonethere
I remember seeing this video on Youtube. If the price was right, I'd buy one, but for $250.00 I'll pass.
Yeags777
sweet idea, but not for $250. I'd let the water sit for a day or two before I'd have to spend $250.

jelatin
I would totally buy this because it's completely fucking ridiculous. Necessary? Not even slightly. Hilariously ridiculous? Yes. Edited March 17, 2010 by jelatin

delSol_si
well, if anyone does decide to get one, it looks like you are going to have to get an adaptor for it, doesn't look like an american plug-in

ih303
It think it's pretty damn sweet. My only concern is durability - it looks kind of cheap. If I got some of these, they'd be for the lounge. I'm wondering if they'd eventually overheat and burn up from constant use. Currently, our electric burners have a life of about 2-3 weeks max. We go through those like crazy. The thing is, those are only $10, not $250. Either way, you peaked my curiosity. Thanks!
Stuie
Still not sure if I like the idea or not. have seen these in the past and though cool... but i always end up thinking novelty.

ih303
Honestly, the coolest thing about this unit IMO is the coal starter. I really don't mind starting hookahs. We use CH Nats at my lounge, and every once in a while we get a box of smokers. Presently, we have a small fan that blows on the coals and directs the smoke down the back counter rather than in our faces, but it still ends up stinking back there. There's really no easy way to put in a vent anywhere so something like this would be fantastic. Plus, I really like how it lets you know when the coals are done. I can't tell you how many times I've started coals only to forget about them and come back to find them the size of a pea. What a waste. Does anyone know anything about electrical elements and what would make one suitable for constant usage in a lounge? And would it prolong the life of the burner if, instead of heating up a coal set directly on it, coals were heated in a metal "pan" of sorts like on the shishavac? PSU Smoker
the life of your burner might prolong by a little if you use a pan like the shishavac. Only reason I say this is because you wont have coal residue build up on the coil itself, allowing it to heat and cool more efficiently than if covered in soot. But im no electrician so dont hold me to it =)
