Any Tips For Ensuring A Great Seal Between The Hose And The Stem?

Recommended Posts

I usually use a grommet
just got my first KM, and the hose that came with it actually doesn't fit.. grommet makes it too big... Nammor with grommet fits fine.
I also use toilet paper, wrap it around the end of the hose and stick it in.. usually works. (this also works to put the bowl on the top)

Hope this helps!

I have never felt like i am getting a 100% seal when I use a grommet. Its like theres always Air.

Im asking because I have been getting a lot of Air leak related Headaches latley. No matter what hose or hookah I use, and I know its the hose stem seal.

Paper Towel. 3 inches across, 1 inch wide.

Fold it in half [so you get it to 0.5" wide], get half of it wet, then use that as a grommet.

Trust me, that's the BEST seal you can ever achieve. Use it for your bowl too.

I haven't touched a rubber grommet [except for the one that connects the base to the stem] for many years. Paper Towel all the way. Everyone that has smoked with me used to use rubber grommets all the time, but not anymore.

no vid needed for my method, just hold the plastic end that goes into the hookah with one hand and the hookah under the hose port and squeeze together. The plastic seems to just squeeze into place. no grommet needed. i could make a video but it's just so simple. again, this is for a km, i don't know if this would work with a mya or other hookah.

I got lazy and stopped using grommets. I just (And you can sig this if you want) jam the end of my hose into the port until it wont go in any further. Heyoooo

If that doesn't get me a good seal I just wrap the end with Teflon tape.

I'm with this guy. Been using damp paper towel strips for the longest time. Best seal ever.

I don't use hose grommets anymore. with KM's it seems as though their hoses, narbs/razan/namors work just fine without grommets, anyone else?

I skip the grommet, or paper towel, if I use my KM hose on my KM, plastic on metal, it is a perfect fit.

I believe you, but please use a crappy base for the video!

i skip the hose grommets. i just soak a folded paper towel strip and then wrap it it around the end that does in the hookah. i've been using the grommets for the head but i'm going to give the paper towel method a shot tonight.

Lol... I love these grommet vs. wet paper towel threads!

I don't know what kind of hookahs everyone's using, but mine are all Mya, KM, and Temsah. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I use grommets and have absolutely no leaking anywhere. At the lounge we use KM and Mya with grommets - no leaking anywhere. The way I see it, if your grommet leaks, it's the wrong one. Try another.

Plus, with grommets, all you do is plug in whatever you're trying to plug in. No tearing, sizing, wetting, forming, and sticking like with wet paper towels.

BTW, John. I suspect you're smoking out of a KM with a Narbish hose. I've observed that a lot of KM's have narrower hose ports than, say, Temsah. Combine this with a Narbish or Grand that has a wider port-end than, say, a Razan, and you get a perfect fit with no grommet. I've just found from trying that this doesn't work with every hookah/hose combination.
