Joel
Hey everyone, I just got my first KM from SocialSmoke.com (Single Green Pear) and it came with a bunch of freebies (base protector, wind cover, ect.) It looks great, but once I assembled it, it was a little wobbly. Not so much on the base, but the connection from the stem to the base. Is this normal for KM? I've just heard so much praise about these that I was expecting it to be solid as a rock, but I found that my Myas are much more sturdy. Any input? Codename067
Don't jump to conclusions too quickly. There are vendors that are not making sure they send out a KM with the right grommet/gasket size. This is just a matter of finding the right grommet size. The hookah is not at fault, the grommet that they put on it is. Contact them, tell them to send you a couple of grommets, and hopefully they don't blow you off.
PSU Smoker
yeah my stem and base are a bit wobbly but that was to be expected. It seals just fine...looking at the grommets there are actually 2 on the stem, or maybe one just folded over (i'll have to check tomorrow). But check around for grommets...if you cant find a good fit paper towel it up!
nars2k
If it is wobbly, the grommet is probably not sitting too tight. What you can do is remove the grommet and wrap that area with a bit of electrical tape, then put the grommet back on, this will give it a tighter fit and it should wobble less. Joel
Thanks for the tip guys! I will contact SS and see if they can send a new grommet. For the time being, I will seek out some paper towels!
dizzbizz
Electrical tape does wonders too, I'd say do it now before you get that lean
Chreees
My stem wobbles as well. It's the grommet. I use a damp strip of paper towel and wrap it around the grommet, and it makes the wobble go away. Fixed! I was using electrical tape but when I put the stem on the vase it pushed up the tape and just got shit sticky... Paper towel works better anyway. With Mya you never have to worry about finding the right size gaskets, they work flawlessly right out of the package.
Yeags777
The last two KM's i've owned have had overgrown grommets. I have taken sand paper to them till it was the perfect fit, but not too tight. I usually add a little olive oil to it when I assemble it.
Codename067
I am surprised a lot of you guys are saying that the stem wobbles...that's really odd because none of my stems wobble, not even a bit. I always find the perfect grommet for each stem/base combo that I have. However, I do have 10 spare grommets to work with, and finding the perfect one is almost never an issue. The tighter the fit, the better. Hand made or not, the perfect grommet will get rid of even the slightest wobbling.
PSU Smoker
yeah i need to throw a little electrical tape around mine...i dont really mind the wobble tho, its not too much...my base wobbles more than anything cause the glass sint perfectly flat since handmade....but thats where I find all the beauty to be

I wrap the damp paper towel strip around my grommet and it fits perfect. Otherwise I could just pick up my hookah when it's assembled and the vase would fall right off. antouwan
i was going to say, if you're using paper towels, don't pick it up by the stem...i've already done that. hope nothing shattered.

Yeags777
some more input.. If that thing is TOO tight, I honestly wouldn't assemble it till you have the right grommet. I literally crushed my base with my hand trying to get the stem out and sliced the hell out of my finger.
