Allstar
Ok so I started smoking with cigar and pipes. With both you have humidity ranges you need to maintain. So does anyone know if there is a humidity to keep shisa at. I have a spare humidor that I might try and see what I can find out. Now the problem is, do you think they will be the same. Honey and molasses might have different ranges, plus different companies. Any thoughts?
Honestly i dont think that there is a "range" of humidity that is ideal for shisha. Almost all of my shisha sits in the containers open, with no lid all the time. Never had any trouble with drying out or any other noticeable effects from it. Not knockin the idea.....Play around with it a little bit, if you get any results let us know! Amn_sinclair
yeah i really dont feel that it needs to maintained at a certain level, i have never had any problems with shisha drying out on me and ive left shisha untouched for a long time before
SuburbanSmoker
ive always been told that 70% is the money spot for any kind of tobacco. In my personal experience shisha doesnt really dry out that quickly.
Allstar
Thanks for the input, I am still new to this. I wast just wondering, because I know my cuban cigars, other cigars, and pipe tobacco all have a different % I keep them at.
ryno
I'd just make sure you keep it at a constant humidity. A humidor might not be good cause the shisha could get the taste of the wood in it though.
antouwan
the best/ideal humidity to keep the shisha at is the one it's being smoked at. unless you're smoking in a gigantic humidor room this will be self defeating. not knocking it, i asked eric the same thing when i talked to him and brought up this exact idea about a year and a half ago. the answer i gave you is the one he gave me.
+1 it might keep longer a certain humidity but then you'd be acclimating it before each smoke, plus I dont think anyone really ever has a problem with it going bad in tupaware unless you are keeping the same shit for years

Codename067
Just store it in a relatively cool place and you should be fine.
Allstar
Ok so I tried while I was gone with leaving some in a humidor at a higher humidity like aromatic pipe tobacco. I was at 75%. Noticed a slight difference between what I had inside of the humidor. Was a little more moist and smoked longer than the stuff left out. Problem was the flavors started to marry up in the humidor like two different cigars do when they are next to each other. So my pear would have a mixed fruit flavor as well, even though they are sealed in two different bags. I found this interesting because cigars/ pipe tobacco doesn't do this when seperated. Now the humidor smells like fruit. So overall, little difference but not worth the money to go out and buy one. I might do it again with dividers when I deploy and I will be gone for an extended amount of time. Just thought everyone would like to know. Sonthert
I have found that there is a certain range of dewpoints that may or may not be better for smoking. Now, that being said, thats assuming your tobacco is acclimated for that dewpoint and thats the dewpoint you're smoking it at. If you wanted to, it would be better to store it in the refrigerator, slightly drier (hopefully) than the humidity you're smoking it at. I don't recommend that though.
