Tea!

Just wanted to know what teas people like to drink with hookah (or any other drink for that matter!). My personal favs are Jasmine Green Tea, Oolong, or Gin & Tonic!

I like herbal teas the most. On the weekends, I drink damiana tea with hookah. Sometimes I go for coffee or beer depending on what's in store for the rest of the weekend.

I like all the options in your poll! However, with the nargile, it's usually a beer. For tea, I love all kinds but the ultimate is nuclear strong Iraqi black tea (similar to Turkish tea), as shown in my avatar...

I usually just drink coffee. Not because it goes with any flavor in particular but basically because I'll drink several cups worth daily anyway...

Lol, same here. I make a 4-cup pot in the morning and evening in my dorm. I buy coffee throughout the day at the cafes on campus; it's terrible how hooked I am! I need it to study however and can't do one without the other! I also drink everything I posted as a poll option, mostly coffee and tea though.

Usually it's beer or water, occasionally I'll have some white or green tea though.

Here's how: get some loose black tea, preferably Ceylon tea (Ahmed, al-Wazah, al-Ghazaleen brands for example), or even Turkish tea (Çaykur, but NOT "çaykur filiz"). Fill up a large kettle with water and set it to boil. Fill a teapot with LOTS of tea, like maybe three tablespoons person. If you can, add the smaller teapot on top of the kettle like this.

When the kettle boils, fill up the teapot and put it back on top of the kettle and turn the heat down and let the water simmer and the tea steam. If your teapot and kettle won't stack, then put the teapot on EXTREMELY low heat on a new burner on your stove [I take no responsibility for damaged teapots!], and keep the water in the kettle simmering on the first burner.

After 15-20 minutes, it should be ready. Get a small glass (larger than a shotglass or espresso cup but smaller than a mug), fill half of it with tea, which should look almost black, and fill up with the plain simmering water. It should look like my avatar if you have that kind of glass. Add lots of sugar and enjoy!

Oh, I forgot to add, when made properly (Iraqi style) it's just CRAZY strong, and NEEDS the sugar--it's like what espresso is to regular coffee, only unsweetened Iraqi style tea is really hard to drink (I like my espresso unsweetened)

Hey thanks everyone for posting this stuff, I love to drink tea, and have had Afghan tea at friends houses, but I never knew how to make it properly. This was a really helpful thread.

I think the poll is kinda weird. There's one category for "Longjing" and one for "Green", for instance. Long jing is [i]one specific[/i] Chinese green tea, so I don't think it deserves it's own category

Personally I enjoy tea very much, probably more so than hookah, and my favorite are Taiwanese oolongs and Chinese green teas. The new Sencha-harvest is coming up, and if I can afford it I'll make a big order from o-cha.com anytime soon.

As far as hookah and tea goes I'm not a huge fan of mixing them. IF I drink tea while smoking I prefer something strong, either chai or a smoked tea (Lapsang souchong, for instance). But mostly I stick with water while smoking. Sometimes a beer, or a glass of Laphroaig (whisky) on the side.

Well in the winter i drink Hot green,camameal,black hot in the summer i drink ice tea and water and brisk if i can get it .
