Chaz1337
Just wanted to see how you guys clean out your washable hoses... Been smoking out of my Blue Nammor for over a year now and its still in amazing condition but I have noticed a lingering taste in it for the past few smokes. I clean out my house every couple of weeks with warm water but I feel like it needs a little bit more of a hardcore cleaning to get rid of that lingering taste. Anyone have any tips for a good hose deep cleaning?

PSU Smoker
you can throw some acidic juice down there or some rubbing alcohol
Wandering Jew
I;ve been afraid to use apple cider vinegar on mine because i feel like it will cause a lingering taste of that.
mitchard
I fill it up about half way with water and throw a shot of lemon juice in there. Works pretty well. Though I have only had a washable hose for about a week (which isnt long enough to develop any real ghosting problems) there is no noticeable flavor lingering around after washing it. I have been washing it after every session.
ih303
There are lots of things people use to get rid of ghosting in their gear - lemon juice, vinegar, bleach, vodka, rubbing alcohol, 420 cleaner, etc. I used to use bleach in water but have switched to white vinegar. Here's the best way I've found to completely clean a hose.

Go to your local hardware store and buy a small fountain pump. I got mine for ~$20.
Find some large container that will hold liquid and has a flat bottom. I generally use a bucket or ice chest.
Place the pump in the container and fill with water until the pump is submerged.
Here's the part that might be a little tricky. My pump came with several attachments to fit different diameter hosing. One of them was a perfect fit into the mouth piece of my hose. If your pump comes with no attachments or none of them fit, rig something. I've found plastic hose tips to work well.
Plug your hose into the pump and arrange the rest of the hose to sit on top of the container with the port end in the container.
Pour a little of your favorite cleaner (I use a little bit of bleach or vinegar)
Plug in pump and walk away.
I've found when I've used this method in the past, it has removed 100% of the ghosting leaving the hose tasting fresh and even better than new (no "new hose" taste). I generally set this up before I go to bed so it's done in the morning. Keep in mind, I don't do this after every session. But I like to do it every once in a while when I get a hose ghosting pretty bad. It might be overkill, but it works, and there's no arguing with success. ozloi
i wanna try that water pump method, but personally ive been using a trombone cleaner to clean the insides of my hose...its basically got a 1/2in brush on both sides and a 1-1/2 ft section of thin diameter tubing in between lets me stick the thing into the tube and brush a bit, although ive noticed that with the longer nammor hose, i cant clean the entire hose anymore :-\ the handle is wider than the rest of the hose so finding the hose hole in the handle proves to be impossible, but it should work fine for shorter hoses. and then rinse with lemon juice of course...anyways, really hope that water pump method proves effective cuz the ghosting in my hoses are getting pretty bad... One of my friends used to do that with hookah hoses and it caused the thread holding the hose together to unravel and break down...best drying method by far ive seen is taking a blower for like a mattress and sticking it in the end of the hose so all the water gets blown out... only other way i trust is to let it drip dry. I suppose that it might be safer to swing dry em if construction of the washable hoses are diferent but frankly at 20 bucks a hose im not willing to take the chance

ih303
When we clean hoses at the lounge, we do it like how Stuie does it. It's good for a quick clean but doesn't result in a very thorough cleaning. If any of you try the pump idea, let me know how it goes. I've had great success with it and love the "set it and forget it" way that it works. Sure, it costs a bit of money. But it gets the job done in the least amount of time with the least amount of effort. I'd say that's worth $20.

You'd get this little blonde chick knockin at your door with her hookah in one hand and coals and shisha in the other, and a big grin on her face. And if you have good stuff I might "steal" some. dizzbizz
After reading this thread I cleaned my narbishes with rubbing alcohol and water. Cleaned out most of the ghosting but I ca still taste it. Its much better though, considering I haven't cleaned them since I bought them a few months ago
