KeepItSimple
So I'm looking into getting a Mya. I have a KM green pear right now, but I want to expand my collection to include a Mya. I'm looking at them and their price tags are way more that KM for smaller hookahs. I like the gelato, but the price for it seems steep for the 18 inch. I want to know some opinions on whether they are worth the price tags or not. I know they smoke about the same as a KM, so why are they so much more for smaller hookahs? I also like the Obelisk(sp?) but that goes for over 200. What do you guys think? Besides for that question, what I really want is a pipe that is a little smaller than my green pear, but not less than 18inch, around 22 would be good. Any suggestions? How are the nammors/pharaohs/MZ's?
Stuie
Yes. I love my Mya's I think they smoke the same. I have the Gelato and Obelisk. They are both amazing hookahs. Check out my reviews on them in the Review Section.
Webbles
I got 5 KMs and 2 Myas. And IMO they all smoke equally, the only difference is the purge. The purge on the KM is far more superior than the Mya. But if you dont purge very often, then i wouldnt fret about it. I personally love MYA, and i love craftsmanship on them too. My next hookah is a Mya Colussus, just waiting on that tax return.
james1612
i think its worth buying one. but if its to expensive take a look in trade section. i love my mya bambino only 12 inches tall but rips better than most other hookahs ive hit from
cr15p3rz
they are just more pricey just because of the details and flashy-ness to them, but they smoke like champs i have both a mya petite and dark green deco mya and it was def. worth the price its beautiful and still as good as my km
KeepItSimple
That picture is your deco? Thats beautiful, im gonna go check the price on that right now.
ih303
It really depends on what you like. Mya's are cleanly made, everything fits, they disassemble, and most of them come with a handy-dandy travel case. But like Webbles said, the purge is terrible on Mya's. mushrat
yes. they are good solid pipes that will outlive anything you buy out of Egypt.
twoapplesplease
My MYA globe has been a great piece..but just today after 3 years of solid service while cleaning the stem a inner( cheap aluminum ) pipe piece was coroded and broke when I unscrewed it...pretty dissapointing...it will still smoke but the decorative piece does'nt fit anymore... Jeff_T
I've been thinking about getting another Mya too. In my experience smoking the bigger ones (bigger than a QT) they are pretty close to a KM. Like was stated, the purge isn't going to be the same, but to me that's not a huge concern. That green deco is incredible, looks like a piece of art. I'd say if you have the money, it's worth it. And like Mush said, it should last a long time too.
Barnaby
I have a 5 year old Mya Acrylic that works as my travel hookah. I cannot vouch for later Mya hookahs, but my observations on the one I own are as follows: Heavy - This thing has a great solid weight to it. It does not feel cheap in anyway. Good manufacturing but with a catch - The attention to detail with making this thing is very good. Everything fits perfectly, and the chrome finish is spectacular. However, with my model, the inside of the shaft is not smooth. It is extremely rough, making cleaning harder. Some poor design choices - The shared chamber in the heart sucks. I can't clean it well, because its closed up, and purging is a joke. I do not purge often, but when I do, it should work. The modular design of the shaft, means restrictive ends. Both sides of the shaft taper down, to accommodate screw threads, so in doing so, there is not enough of an opening to get a brush in there. This also means, more restrictive air flow. How it performs? It does the job, and does it OK despite its shortcomings. There's a lot to like, and a lot that makes you go, why????? There is simply no comparison in performance to my Syrian Chiller. Like I said, it does the job, but I'm not about to start adding to the Mya collection. I think they're are a pretty hookah, but I like having ported chambers. I like having BIG ID, smooth shafts for my hookah, so I can clean it, and get good airflow. Maybe the latest ones address some of these problems, but at the end of the day, I'd probably buy a KM before I bought a Mya. I work near their HQ, and they give me a discount when I go there, so maybe if I got a good deal.. But at the end of the day, Mya seems to be about flashiness, vs. functionality to me. wait.. Mya.. Mac... I see a comparison here somehow..

Joel
It's up to you to decide if it's worth it. All you will be paying for is the looks (and the comfort of having a flaw-free machine-made hookah).
jelatin
I have owned a mya qt and bambino for about 3 years now and just last week purchased a Gelato. (I do own other brands of hookahs in case you are wondering.) So far I love my gelato. Like you I wanted a nice medium sized hookah. I have my large hookahs and then my two small myas, but wanted something right in between. I think the gelato will turn out to be my favorite hookah. It's a beauty. Ray
I meant the Mya Vortex, not the vortex bowl. I'm completely satisfied with my Alien and Tang Phunnel, so no need for a Vortex bowl, unless you think that those are better than the other two phunnels i mentioned? Karot
My only hookah is a mya vortex. I really like it because of the hose adaptors, I can easily throw on another hose if I want my nammor all to myself and share at the same time. As previously states its very convenient, screws together (base wont fall off if someone picks it up by the heart), great seals, travel case is really nice even if youre not traveling, I don't purge much so thats not really an issue for me. Definitely was a bit pricy but I've really enjoyed it. Plus if you like modern looking hookahs then a mya is the way to go. I do find the tray on it to be a bit small if there's a windcover on. thecoalition
i used to have a mya frost a couple years back. I really liked it and the fact that it came apart for really easy cleaning. i've like my past 2 kms more though.
rahl071
http://www.southsmoke.com/cat_mya.cfm This. I personally like the clean look of an all-chrome upper and glass lower. I have both the frost and the pyramid (aka vortex), and I really like both of them. Personally, I say get the frost. It's 31" at full height, but you can take sections of the pipe out to make it shorter like the 22" you were requesting; also, the downstem has a larger bore on the frost than on the pyramid/vortex, and it's only 20 bucks more. MichaelLCP
MYA's are great. The first and only hookah I bought was a MYA Vortex. Its a great smoke.
