SoHaveIShownHowAbstract
So I got my new MZ in the mail today, packed it and set it up to smoke, and then I stupidly pushed too hard to try and make the bowl air-tight.....and the bottom broke off!!! I sealed it with spackle and duct-taped it and it worked for the first session. There was a very small leak which decreased the amount of smoke significantly but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I will go and buy a new one tomorrow. I feel so stupid! How hard am I supposed to push it down?
SoHaveIShownHowAbstract
* How hard to push on the bowl for that matter?
JOE
ive broke a standard egyptian doing this, and the bowl that came with my KM, before i even used it, so dont feel bad! you just need to create the seal. although i must say, i can put all my weight onto my tangiers phunnel, that thing is so strong. JOE
and I wouldn't recommend duct tape on your bowl!
Venger
I don't really push all that hard.I use barely any pressure and slide it down the grommet till it is snug. Maybe rock it back and forth and twist it a little. When it stops moving it is air tight. Ray

TheyCallMeDave
I have a very dry, almost chalky grommet for my bowl.. So I use a few dabs of water to moisten it up and slide it on, wait a minute or two, and after about 80 seconds itll dry and be sealed like no ones business. Just what i do. KeepItSimple
Damn, glad I read that this can happen before I did it, now I know to be careful
bellydancerakn
God after a long day at work and being completly exhausted this thread is amazing when read with a perverted mind.
Jeff_T
I've also done this, sucks but it happens. I think some Egyptians are kinda weak around the bottom, at least now you know...
Majid
Sucks, been there. Rather than using more force adapt the grommet or top of the stem, make it thicker with some tape. Your bowl is probably going to crumble with time.
the_cool
Funny that this is mentioned cos i was just thinking about this! Some youtube videos show what it looks like people JAMMING the bowl on the hookah and i cringe everytime. A friend of mine broke a egyptian bowl this way. Are phunnels stronger when it comes to this?
